Anybody know any easy cheap meals that require no baking (oven broke) we are on a very tight budget. And food is ungodly high priced. 6$ for a 10lb bag of potatoes is crazy,. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, i guess it all depends on what u like and dont like and where u live also. (price wise) For me and my family, they like me to make some spagetti (er however u spell it..lol..)and tuna fish cassarole. The ingredients for all that i can get at my local store for under 10 dollars and that is 2 meals alone. and if u dont mind having left overs the next day or night, then those 2 meals would be good. But like i said, it all depends on what u guys like and dislike.

I am guessing that the stove top still works right? I found a site that you might want to check out. It is really good. It really breaks down the prices for you too. http://www.bloglander.com/cheapeats/category/recipes/

I'll check it out thanks, Ya the stove top works and so does the broiler but the baking unit went out. so making baked items can be tricky. I used to make homemade biscuits and bread that saved a little money but without a baking unit it just is not going to happen.

Think outside of the box. Biscuit mix jiffy or biscuick is cheap by big box Thats pancakes, biscuits. which can be topping for pot pies, or cobblers. pasta can be bought really cheap . egg noodles cream of mushroom soup tuna or canned ham, broccoli(some use peas) wieners are like a dollar a package.add to mac and cheese ramen noodles add extra seasoning and add some veggies of choice. rice is cheap too. Canned fruit can be useful as well.

I would recommend Hamburger Helper (usually about 2-3 dollars a box, depending on where you shop). A family of four would probably need two boxes. The box says you need a pound of ground beef per box, but we only use a half pound per box. All together you're looking at about 7 bucks for the full meal. They have a ton of different flavors. My family also likes the Homestyle Bakes - don't let the name fool you, it can be made on the stovetop as well! We like their Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. We pay about 3 dollars a box for it, but it comes with everything you need - just add water! Depending on your appetite, you may need two boxes of that as well - my husband is a big eater! Hope this helps.

I'll do that. I decided to try subbing market made sausage for some of my hamburger recipes because it is about a dollar cheaper per pound. I appreciate all the tips. Thanks
