I live in California. We recently had a 5.4 earthquake. It was the first one I truly have felt since living here and it was an experience! When I moved here in 99 we have a big 7.1 but I slept through til the very end of it. I was definatly freaked out when I felt the one we had recently as I did not know really what to expect! So, my question for you guys is what natural distaters effect where you reside? Tornando, hurricaine, earthquake, etc? Have you have had a serious one where you felt in danger?

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and we don't have many natural disasters. We have had a few hurricaines but nothing huge (well that I can remember). Recently though we have been having lots of Tornado warnings. It really scares me when we have the warning and although they don't touch down here, they do more to the east of us. The most we really get are Torrential downpours, hail and high winds. The lightning and thunder this year have been awesome. But the Tornado thing does scare me and I thank my lucky stars every time is passes over. i could never imagine living somewhere where there is a large threat of mulitpul disaters. I'd be scared my whole life!!

You are very lucky to not have many where you live. I agree tornados to me are way more scary than earthquakes. Some people think i'm crazy but generally, like in California, there is a code when it comes to building buildings because of earthquakes. They are built with stronger foundations sot hey wont crumble. There isnt really a way to keep a tornado from ripping a house up! But you are very lucky you dont really deal with either!

I'm in south Florida so we have to worry about hurricanes. The first year I was down here three came through and then there was Wilma who was such a joy...not. We lost power for days but none of the storm so far have caused any heavy damage to my house or my daughter's next door...only took out some trees. We've got our fingers crossed that this year will be another quiet one for this ara.

Well I live in the mountains and we usually don't get tornadoes but this May we had a tornadoe warning. We had one tornadoe in our town and it damaged the local Wal-mart and a few schools.

Oh wow glad nothing was seriously damaged. I used to live where there were tornados in the midwest. They always seemed mroe scary to me than earthquakes.
