We recently gave up papertowels. It has been two months. I don't really miss them that badly. Every once in awhile I wish I still had some.

I don't use paper towels at all on economic and environmental grounds. I use cloth wipes which I wash and reuse on the baby, and washable sponges and towels in the kitchen. I don't miss them at all.

Yes, I use papertowels. I don't quite know what I would do without them. I am sorry to say I use them quite a bit. I wipe up my cats messes that the make with their food. I wipe up messes that I make when I spill, I use it for cleaning purposes, I use them as napkins. I can't imagine living without them. That really does sound quite awful for the environment but, I would be washing more if I used cloth to pick up spills and such so to me using the papertowels seems the better choice.

We don't use them that often, but we do keep them around. They are really good to have, when the cat gags up a hairball on the floor, and we want to pick it up, and throw it in the compost (we don't flush papertowels down the toilet, and we really don't want to pick up cat puke in something that is not disposable). We have a compost bin with little tiny bags in it, so we don't have to wait for the thing to fill up, before we take it up stairs. In this city, garbage is sorted, so the dumpsites take care of large compost heaps.

We use recycled paper towels so are not using any trees. We then put them in the compost when they are used. So two good uses and a clear conscience.
