Oh,this is so sad i have always enjoyed is music over the years i agree with you so much.

Oh, this is sad news, cobrateacher. I had no idea that he wasn't well.

I was also surprised to hear that Bernie Mac died this weekend.

When I first saw the news that Isaac Hayes had died, I had to do a double-take. I actually typed Isaac Hayes into my search engine to confirm it.

This is tragic. It appears that he died while working out on his treadmill. Here is the story from CNN.

CNN) -- Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.

Singer Issac Hayes seen performing in the U.K. last year. Hayes was found dead Sunday at age 65.

Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s. See photos of singer Isaac Hayes »

He released his first solo album in 1967, and his 1969 follow-up, "Hot Buttered Soul," became a platinum hit.

In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.

Hayes won a third Grammy for pop instrumental performance with the title track to his 1972 "Black Moses" album.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. In a CNN interview at the time, Hayes credited his success to "adjusting and constantly evolving.

I remember when the movie Shaft came out. The movie and the sound track were just amazing.

With the death of Bernie Mac and now Isaac Hayes, things just won't be the same.

That was a great eulogy. I do believe Isaac would have liked it. Short and sweet yet informative and telling. Nice job. You are also right on with this description.
The world is a sadder place today for our loss.

Yeah it is pretty sad that he died I found this out less then 20 min ago when I was watching around the horn. I was in shock I mean bernie mac just died a few days ago and now isac hayes is dead to. This has been a very bad week. But I will remember him most for his role of chef on south park since and of course his song shaft since thats my favorite song he sings.

2 Icons in 2 days. I was shocked at both. Odd thing, when I heard of Bernie, I started surfing for confirmation and sadly saw it as true. Then I started watching some of his stand ups on you tube. I ran across a photo of Bernie, Issac and Samuel Jackson. If I'm not mistaking it was a film they may have been working on. Can't be sure, as I was still trying to get a grip on losing the Mac.
