Olympic Child Singer |
|
Well I got up this morning to see on my home page news that the little girl who sang in the Olympic Games opening ceremony didn't really sing at all, that the little girl whose voice was used was just not pretty enough so they used another girlfor show, well I think the little girlwho they said was not pretty enough is gorgeous, I don't understand, she has a lovely little face, how sad that there are thoughts like that, I know how sensitive i was when I was a kid, i just hope she is not affected by this act....well I think she is beautiful and will be a stunner when she grows up....

1. Humbug25 (4101) | 1 year ago | Hi there lilaclady
I too saw this on my homepage and I was totally disgusted. Who cares what the kid looked like if she had a beautiful voice. Did they think they were going to get away with it? It's so wrong, wrong, wrong!

2. towongfoo27 (915) | 1 year ago | I also swa the story this morning on the news, and I thought it was out of turn for them to say she isn't pretty enough? Who is anyone to judge beauty? Girls are sensitive at her age, and I hope she rises above it. If she is a strong girl and her family can raise her to be a strong girl, outside of society's standards of beauty, then one day she will look back on it and laugh! Then again, maybe one day they will owe this sweet little girl an apology! I didn't think that was too cool either.

4. tamarafireheart (12642) | 1 year ago | Hi lilclady,
I am disgusted to hear that if I were her parents I wouln't have allowed that to happen, what sort of people are they to treat a child like that, its not so bad if it was an adult but a child it just too shameful.

5. Nonnymouse (405) | 1 year ago | I read this in the Herald this morning and felt quite upset about it. A dear little girl with a dear little face. My husband said the other little girl was miming, but I wasn't quite sure of that at the time. Personally I think the real little singer would have been much cuter. I think their aim was to find someone whom they thought would appeal more to the Western world. Personally I liked the singing little cutie better. They did say that little girl didn't bear a grudge.

8. pam210 (329) | 1 year ago | I couldn't believe this story when I heard it this morning on the radio. When I got to work and saw the picture of the girl that was replaced I was shocked. Is this what the world has come to that if you are talented but do not fit the image that they want to have then you are replaced with someone that fits that image. When I watched the ceremony I could tell the girl was lip syncing which is totally understandable but now to find out that wasn't even the voice of the child! When I saw the girl my only thought was what a beautiful voice I didn't even think "Oh what a cute child". I think of all children as cute or beautiful but I did notice the voice. Hopefully this child will go on and use her talents and the girl that stood in for her will not suffer for some adults poor judgement.

9. Tetchie (1300) | 1 year ago | Well, at the end of the day both girls win don't they. Especially the 'less attractive' one who now has more publicity than she would have got had she been in front of the camera. (Or do they both loose). The 'more attractive' one is probably going to feel bad because she may think she was put on stage under false pretenses. If she did not think it, she will know it now after the Western media has a field day. The 'less attractive' one is going to be praised for her singing, but she is going to be re-informed by said media that she is the 'less attractive' one. Lets get real here, appearance means everything when you are spending a large fortune and the world is watching. Whether it is immoral becomes irrelevant when it comes to writing newspaper articles too. You can't tell me organizers of any olympics would not be looking for the most talented and most attractive one. Right and wrong take a back seat to entertainment which is what the opening ceremony is at the end of the day.
