I just don't get it. Why am i getting an impression that our government is so afraid of them. It's like they are being held in the neck. What's more disappointing is that these people demand for something and the government would give in to their cravings. Such a brat!

As a citizen of the Philippines who also wish for the eventual settlement of this decades-old problem of rebellions, I must say that it is never that simple at all. How I wish that solving such a problem would be not be as complex as it is now.
Peace is really a very difficult thing to achieve and humans I must say have this very limited power to achieve such thing. Everybody (with some exemptions)is looking and dreaming for peace. But not everybody is willing to go thru the miles necessary to achieve such thing. And in seeking peace, it is never a one-way street.
Peace to all...!

This is a century old problem with the rebels. The government has no political will to end it because they profit on arms. The civilians caught in crossfires are the victims here. Until we don't have the government who is serious in having a peaceful nation, the rebels are still there and they will continue to be a headache.

It is disappointing because the government always said that the rebels number are diminishing including their supporters but up to now after so many decades they are still here and fighting the government. Maybe the government still lack the firepower to oust the rebels and totally removed them, which of course cannot be admitted by our government. Well to think of it, this could be true.

Yeah I guess this is one of the band - aid solutions that our government is making. they want an easy way out of the conflict and this is the swiftest way of making at peace with them. I am no in favor of continued armed conflict but I would not also want to just easily give in to their demands. I would want a more viable and acceptable solution to the majority of what the people of Mindanao want. If they want autonomy then its fine for as long as there is no ceding of government control over them.

Declare the place a no mans land, so that the government can
eradicate all those MILF, and we will have peace.
