Can you enjoy a concert if you've never heard the songs? |

| So last night hubby and I went to a Maroon 5 w/ Counting Crows concert. We had a blast and feel so lucky to have been able to see these 2 great bands live. Counting Crows was the last act. Basically the only Counting Crows songs I know are the ones that are played on the radio.. and this is a band that likes to just flat out JAM. They would start a song, then half way through it, it would appear as if the singer, Adam Duritz, got side tracked and began singing a different song.. partially talking.. it's rather hard to explain. But then at the end of the song he'd go back to the original song he had been singing and finish it right. The only song they did beginning to end with no interruption was Mr. Jones... and half of the audience left after that. We stayed for a few songs after that, but we didn't know any of them, and he kept "jamming" in the middle of the songs, which seemed to make the songs last forever. I guess a lot of people like that sort of thing... but we ended up leaving before the end of the act. We weren't really enjoying the concert anymore when we didn't know any of the songs, plus we'd been there 4 hours already, so we were tired and worried about the kids. I'm not complaining though... it was a great concert and I am so glad we went. I think it was an awesome experience to see such great bands live in concert. My pictures are all very fuzzy because I was moving around and couldn't hold still, lol... but here's one I took of Counting Crows performing... | | Counting Crows in Concert | | | | |

| | I am the same exact way!! I never like a song until it has grown on me! And the "jamming" that Counting Crows did wasn't even really jamming... it's just what my husband called it. Actually they just slowed down a lot and got rather strange. I'm trying not to complain because I was in awe of the fact that I was seeing this great band in concert... but it just got boring! | | | |

| | So glad that noting ruined your plans. I am happy that you got to go out on a date with your hubby. So many people forget how important that it is to still date each other after your married! I wished that they would have played more sounds that you knew. I still am not understaning the whole talking right in the middle of a song thing.. | | | | | | |

| | Well luckily this was only a portion of the show. We saw Sara Bareilles and Maroon 5 first, which made the entire evening worth while. It was fantastic to see Counting Crows in concert, and watch Mr. Jones performed live.. but the rest of their act just wasn't for me I guess. | | | |

| | I enjoy going to concerts and hearing songs I have never heard befor. But this sounds like he was justr crazy and could not keep his mind on the song he was singing. I think I would be irritated also. Glad the first act was enjoyable and you had a good time up tell the psyco act started. | | | | | | |

| | The first act played some songs I wasn't completely familiar with, and I really enjoyed them. So it wasn't completely the fact that I didn't know the music. I think for me it's best if there is some music I know mixed in with some music I don't know, that way I am not getting too bored... but with the Counting Crows, it didn't matter if I knew it or not, because they weren't singing any of their songs the way we know them from the radio or CD's. | | | |
