What a day!!!!

I sit here staring at my computer.....silence....a couple of clicks to other sites and then what? silence... I hum a few lines or two, then click again ..... Then, wait for the call to make my day or break it. As a call center agent or for a customer service officer, I get used to scolded every hour and getting cursed and being yelled at by people I dont know and dont even care to know...(who cares?) Its just a package deal at least im paid to get all the yells and the cursing, I guess its a sort of a counselling here in this area that im into. I just hope that people would feel better after saying those words, I hope they feel happy and satisfied and contented. Sometimes it just reveals the worst or the best of me, depending on the mood, but generally I fight back and retaliate. I mean, hey i just human, i get hurt with all those things you say just to hurt me. Then, I wake up to the reality that hey come on this is part of your job. In fairness to other callers, some are nice and well mannered.Sometimes or most often I go home with a heavy heart, I feel tired and sick of this routine for almost seven years of my working here. I have no choice, even though they say I got the worst job in the world Im just proud of it. I understand why people get mad when they dont have dial tones or when they have no internet connection, of course they pay for it and they deserve the best best service we could give. But there is no such thing as a perfect system, there are system failures that would cause such and then the calls start floodin'. The world has become a race, that people have lost the patience to wait they start yelling and worst shouting and ended up saying words I know they might regret in the end. Well, the more I get bombarded with all of these negative truths I have lost my sensitiveness, I dont care if you shout or yell, if u can wait good, if not, then better. But, not that bad as you think I am, but I guess its what they call coping. Coz' if i dont sweet lemon or i dont sour grape, I dont know. Im like doing a free verse poem here, just types what ever comes to mind, a way of releasing......What a day!!!!

Oh I know how you feel, I was a telephone operator for years and it does seem the public takes all the worries of the world on whatever operater they get on line...when i first started the main part of my job was to give service, good service then all of a sudden it was all about money, we were not allowed to give the caring service i was proud to give, I would imagine it would still be about the money today and the poor old operatoers would be pushed to the brink and have to take flack from all directions...I know exactly how you feel my friend..

Hi Zelmarq! Oh dear, just release your pent up emotions here so you could at least feel good somehow. My sister in law and another friend of mine works in a call center here too and they feel the same way as you do. It is indeed a stressful job and I don;t think I am cut for a job like that. I am a very patient person but I am not sure if I can cope up with being cursed and yelled everyday. Take care always..God Bless!

SOunds like you started out as a slow day!. Hope you didnt get that hollering one! but of course ya got at least one. I know been theree done that. yup and I hgave been known to holler at the person that I call for I can be so upset with some of the people that do the billing as they are always makng mistakes. and then I have to aplozie to that person for I know that isnt thier fault. and I can do that after I have let off steam lol. Just like the therapy sessions I went thu they waived the co pay because I couldnt afford $30 every week to go there and I wouldnt have gone if they didnt. But the Insuance send out what they call NOT A BILL but then it says I owe something they just waste paper for the next one that comes says I owe nothing . Go figure!

Oh!! great!!! I admire your patience to the max... If I am in your position I might have a heart attack already or might have high blood pressure all day long. I can not stand to be shouted, cursed or yelled b anybody? It made me smile when you said, you have the worst job in the world. I really like your positive attitude to stay in that job for 7 years? Maybe I will just last for a day if I be yelled and scolded all the time. Or maybe I am into fight all day..... I really admire you for that.

It sounds like you have had a really rough day. I did find that at one job I was acting like my co workers, and treating my children badly as well. That is when I quit that job. I wish you could find something that would build on your talent and grace. Have a better evening.

When you work in the telephone and computer industry, you know that things go wrong and unlike the telephone or computer technician or the guy that goes to the house with his equipment or the lineman, you do not know about the operations, you can just take the message and rely the information to the repairman, and the person on the other end does not know that. I would not want that job, I would feel rather depressed after doing it. And I am the type of person who would feel that I should know how to fix it or tell the householder what is wrong or would immediately go over and fix it myself.

Any one who has to deal with the public in a service or problem solving area has to have very thick skin and a strong constitution. It is easy to get irritated with angry or dumb customers. The ability to treat all who call you with a sense of respect and concern is a gift. Keep up the good work.

Im glad I have developed this antibiotic when it comes to patience. But there are times that I get overboard and snap so quickly and there are times i get guilty and I try to relax so that I can change heart when it comes to having and extending my patience./

haha, yes sometimes it really helps to vent by typing. share with you something. a friend has this method of managing her emotions. sometimes she would get really frustrated and upset at work and she feels like she can't call anyone or tell anyone. so she opens this word document and starts typing. and all the frustrations and anger is poured out onto the page. and she finds that it's really therapeutic. maybe you can try that too, or this is even better since people can respond to you!

Thats also a technique what I have learned in venting up my emotions. There ws once while I was typing tears were falling from my eyes and it was great I just let it all out, really helped me alot. Have a nice day and thank you.

Its a package deal and always part of the job, may be theres a point that people get burned out with the job and sometimes we need some space and a time to breathe and kept away from all these stress. I need a vacation a time out from work, a time to relax and feel the sun and se\mell the flowers. Thank you my friend and have a nice day. God bless!

I do not understand why people shout and scream and people like you, because what do they achieve from it? You can get what you want be just talking and people are more likely to do what you want if they like you and you have made their day that little bit nicer. I hope the next time you are at work it is more fun.

I have always wanted to improve my conversational english. During the boom of the call center industries, i thought outright that my dream of being the speaker that i wanted to be has met its means -- being a CCA (though im accountant by profession). I tried a lot of times to get into the industry, even if i am already having a good position at a top ranking BPO, just so i can satisfy my ego. Well, somehow i have convinced myself there will always be things i cant have and accomplished, like adapting the "thwang" by being a CCA. And i know now that i do not have the patience or the self-control all those agents practice in handling their calls. Chill buddy! Nice thing you let those negative feelings off your chest! You'll have better days ;-)

When it comes to my englsih, i dont know if I ever improved since the call center im working is just speaking the the dialect so theres no problem when it comes to the language, theres no problem. I can only speak english when the client is and english or american or anyone who speaks the language. Its nice that I can express all here. Thank you to all mylotters.
