It is frequently told in public and media and what not that day by day people are growing more mechanical and losing the emotion to the stress and strain of modern lifestyle .
But I find it difficult to agree at this opinion . My contention is based on observation on the modern day relationships .
I think you also observe that young people are more loving that years before . You see most of today's marriages are "love marriages" - marriages resulting from spontaneous relationship growing between boys and girls during their studentship or in their early period of working life . Very few parents of today feel themselves 'LUCKY' enough to arrange marriages of their children . Love is driven by positive emotion . So, this fact shows the growing influence of emotion .
Also , it is frequently noticed that divorces and separation are also growing between couples and lovers . This also shows the influence of emotion . If the people were mechanical these manifestation of emotion would not have been observed .
But people of yesteryears were mechanical and so their hearts had very little to d o about relationships . They obeyed what destiny told them to do . They did just mechanically .

People are more emotional I agree but there are two kinds of emotions one positive ones and one negative ones. Because of stress and strain of hectic lives nowadays stability in relationships is lacking, we all are giving in to negative emotions of anger, selfishness instead of patience and preservence, hence positivity is moving towards negativity resulting in more divorces etc. Need of today is to avoid stress by meditation so that we can channelise our emotions towards love and respect for others.

I'm sure there are plenty of answers coming to this question, but here is one thought. I think people today have less control of their emotions and are in general less self-controlled. Therefore, emotional outbursts are more common and on display. Who knows!
