We all should sleep at least 6 hours to feel refreshed and able to tackle the day ahead.. i need 7 hours sleep, anymore then 8 hours sleep and i can wake up feeling more tired, as would over-sleep

As we get older i think we don't need to sleep for as long..

i known people that can go a whole weekend with NO sleep, and just party. I have been all night with no sleep but feeling very tired the next day by afternoon and just kept falling asleep which is not good and bad sleeping habit.

How about you? what is your sleeping habit, how many hours sleep you try to get and can you go nights without sleep?

Hello mandykaren

I try to sleep at least 15 hours a day but I usually on manage to sleep about 4 to 6 hours a night.

did you really mean 15 hours?? wow lol thats way more then half a day just for sleeping hehe.. i really dont like sleeping tooo much, i get annoyed if over slept as i have so much i enjoy doing in my waking hours hehe. mostly here lol

hahaha. that's quite a sight. there was a time that i stay asleep as much. i still need a minimum of six. average of eight and a maximum of eight. since i started mylotting, i intend to cut those hours for posting. yey.

I can assure you that my intent / motives are pure -- I truly wish that I could sleep all through the night and through the day, but it rarely works out.

hi mandy...i am on a new schedule and usually get about 4 hours sleep. i need to get up a little after 4am and can't seem to get to sleep til around 12 midnight. sometimes i can go to bed for a nap when i get home 11 1/2 hours later. but i like my job so it's worth it.

wow only 4 hours, i could manage that for couple of days, but it would catch up on me, lack of sleep.. I get headaches and feel sick if i loose too much sleep.

well for me my sleeping habit is that im awake in afternoon (1pm) - morning (2 - 6pm) so i sleep for almost 8 hours everyday...and i can also survive without sleeping like for 2 days lol :)) well thats what i am for almost 5 years now

8 hours is about average amount of sleep for someone in 20s happy i have managed no sleep for an all niter but almost killed me hahahha.. totally messes up your body clock

I often try to get about 7 hours of sleep a night. If i get more than tht I get alittle more tired also. I think that I function best on at least 5 but no more than 7 hours. It is the best idea when sleeping to try to get the sleep you function best on.

i agree happy 7 hours sleep for me is perfect but i can get away with 6 and i be fine.. Dont like to waste too much of my time sleeping as life is short and now with all this technology to enjoy i need more time awake to enjoy it haha

i have never really tried to get a certain amount of sleep, but a lot of the times, if i have nothing to do, i won't set my alarm and the meds i take for sleeping knock me out so there are days i may not get up until 12:00pm to 2:00pm and usually have to go back for a small nap to get rid of the effects of the meds, lol sad eh?

i always know i normally will wake up between 6 and 7 hours later.. so i know the time i should go to bed, to be up at a particular time lol otherwise i HAVE to set alarm hehe.. id hate to be stil in bed in afternoon, well it ok if anything other then for sleeping hehe

i usually have a pretty good internal alarm clock, but i always set the clock just in case, lol usually with my internal alarm clock it is too early

Usually on weekdays I sleep for 9-10 hours. On weekends I sleep for 4-6 hours.

why is that sleep pattern? you work weekdays and too busy partying weekends to sleep hehe or work weekends? happy

I need at least 6 1/2 hours to feel like a human being otherwise I am lethargic and can't function properly. I do sometimes stay up later on the weekend but also take a little nap in the afternoon if I do.

I MUST have at least 6 hours a night. 7 to 8 for preference. Like you, more than that and I feel grotty. I do sometimes sneak off for a nap in the afternoons. But then I feel tired at tea time! When I was young I could party pretty hard. But these days I like to be tucked up with my Ovaltine by 11 pm (he says responding at 12.50 am!!)

haha i prefer horlicks and right now i am gradually fading at 12.12am...normally i am ok but only got 5 hours sleep yesterday yawn because of stupid mylot lol

I try to get 6 to 7 hours of sleep each night. I will not sleep over 10
hours because it makes me feel tired during the day. There is no way I can go without sleep. It only makes me feel tired.

Good discussion ....first of all need to mention first !!!

I think it varies from person to person ...but yes when we are of age say below 45 ,6-8 hrs sleep per day is enough .

But once we get older crossing 45 years of age we need more sleep as our body is not that strong to work due to age factor .


Other thing is how we trained our body ..if we trained our body to 10-12 hrs a sleep a day once we are say around 30 years of age it s not good for either physical or mental health .


SO our habits governs a lot of our habits.....we need to have good habits to have optimum sleeping hours .

Being lazy increases our sleep hours ....at times we are just over with sleeping but still we dont leave bed ......out of laziness thats bad habit ...so I think it harms our health badiy .


So I conclude saying below 45 years of age sleep for 6-8 hrs a day and above may be 10=12 hrs a day ...is good for health .

hello Ganesh happy you right, our sleep pattern does change with age, although its a little strange because amount we need drops, as babies we sleep half the day, as teens its normally 8 hours and then drops to 6 to 7. i dont know about in 40s yet hehe.. Too much is not good i admit, i hate to lay in too long as much i enjoy doing and dont like to waste my day away in bed.. unless with laptop lol how is that for laziness ? :p
