My lost dog adventure...  

I am so glad for people like you, what a great idea of letting the dog lead to his or her house! I love animals and I rescued many many cats in my life. I never tried that one with a lost dog but surely I will from now on! Thank you!

I have taken a dog in before and we found the owner a few Days later as we had put notices up in the Shop Windows near by, if we could not have found the owner I would have phoned up the Kennels to let them know if anybody reported the Dog missing
I am so glad though that the Dog is back home

I take the poor thing in and try to find it's home. I call the pounds and vet offices in all the areas around me to see if anyone lost their baby and let them know when and where I found him/her. I let them know my number and tell them to let the people know my number if anyone calls wanting to know if anyone found the baby. If it goes longer a week or so I put an add in the paper. The first day I put an add in the local online ads letting it be known that I found a baby and they need to call me describing the one they lost and where.
I just do what I can think of to do , also having my grandchildren check around on the bus and at school to see if anyone lost a pet. It's not usually long the baby has been returned home.
But there have been some If kept because no one claimed them. They went through too much and we never know just how much so why put them through even more. We are a loving family and have plenty to go around.

What a great idea..I never thought of that one..tying a lead to find the dog's home..but funny it went there.

I have always done the same thing, try to find the owners. if not I kept them.

What I do as am a native ..my father said that God made us responsible for the animals and because man built highways the animals get roadkilled alot and that we must stop and pick up the roadkills and bury them and say a prayer.

I still do it. I bury many animals that are roadkilled and just did 3 this week. One gofer, one raccoon and one beautiful white cat yesterday.

people just go by and ignore the poor animal in the middle of the road or on the side. I have plastic bags that I keep in my trunk and I will stop traffic to take an animal off the highway.

I am sure God looks favorably at what »I am doing and I am sure that I am the only one doing it.

OH what a lovely story, you are a very kind person to do that. Even if the dog did not actually live there, I wonder what the people thought when they came home and found a pug in their garden!

I am a soft touch, if I found a dog or indeed any pet then it would be coming home with me until I could find its home or if not, then I know for a fact I would end up keeping it. In my life I have had a dog and five cats, all of them were strays off the streets or unwanted pets. There is no way I could send it to the pound, no way.

Good for the dog! Here in the Philippines, there are so many stray dogs and cats. Presently, I am feeding 2 stray cats ans even made a house for them in my front yard, I do not wnat them to get wet when it rains.

Whenever we have had a dog come around that doesn't seem to belong to anyone we leave a bowl of food and water out on our porch and the dogs will then eat and go on their way. We don't let them in the house or in our dog kennel where our dogs are. The dog that was around isn't anymore... it might have found its home or found a new home.. but I like to think I helped it not to starve to death. The last I saw that dog was in April.

Simliar story happened to me and my friend, we went to the shops one day and when we came out there was this great German Sheperd dog out side and has we were walking home he followed us we tried to shoo him away but keep on following us, we just ignore him and carried on home, when we got to my house he was still with us as if he was our dog. He then came into my kitchen and my cats just ran to the bed room and hid, the big lump just st there won't move ans I had to cross over him to get him some cat food to eat, he ate the food and st at the door steps when my called the RSPCA. Ten minutes later my husband came home from work and the dog won't let him in he he it was though he was guarding us from him, then the RSPCA arrieved with the van and looded at the dog, the knew the owner so it was great they told us the dog is alwasy doing that sort of things and he is such a softey a lovely dog, so it ended that the owner with children had got their dog back.

I congratulate you on doing your good deed for the day. :) Actually, lilac, there are tons of dogs around here, and more than 90 percent of them are stray. So, there is no point in taking them to their owners, and the ones with owners hardly get lost. :)

I would ring the pound as they have shelter and food for the dog...and that is usually the first place people look or call to see if they have retrieved the pet once it has gotten away. They will also call you back if you leave your number so that it's not put down and they make an effort to find a home for it need be.
