On Shrove tuesday they make pancakes to clean out everything before they start the fasting for the Lent season.

Where are you from because here we have pancakes the day before, On Shrove Tuesday. Anyway, Im not totally sure about this but I seem to remember being told when I was little that traditionally it was so you could use up the eggs etc you use to make the pancakes before you fast for lent.

Pancakes with lots of butter and syrup is so delicious I think it is sinful to eat them any time. I don't care. I'll eat them any old Wednesday.Cheers!!

Do a simple search on Shrove Tuesday and you will find your answers. Since we aren't allowed to cut and paste here it is a bit much to type.
