If I talk about Plato, Aristotle, Nietze, and Gadamer, will anyone react?

Mylot is a forum in which people from different walks of life participate in. I was just wondering if someone is interested in "tabula rasa", existentialism and "I think, therefore I am"? What about Gadamer, what do you think of his principle about fusion in art?

A baby that can only just crawl will not crawl out over a glass surface, where there is a drop below. This, is innate, which alone is sufficient to dismiss the idea of tabula rasa, though it should not be viewed as an excuse to reassert any kind of odious Platonism.
Existentialism, which originates with Nietzsche and Kirkergaard is the idea that existence proceeds essence. That all the man is, is a function of what he does, what he 'directs' himself to become. Again, it is another bulwark against the perils of Platonism.

Very good contribution, I agree.
I also believe that Soren Kierkegaard's existentialism is what the religious faith need nowadays to renew the fervor of the Christian faith and Christianity ..His thoughts several years ago is what people need to apply now. Isn't that amazing!
Thanks for the vital contribution. Cheers!

I agree with djoyce, there are few people that are thinking about this subject at this time, most are busy, with their families, the economy, and domestic problems!
Me, I have the interest, but am snagged along with them trying to survive this economy!
What I wonder about, though, is I can only recall memories of when I was five or six years old, but no memory of before then!

I have posted a topic about physical science and no one responded (LOL). I guess a lot of people are just not interested about those things specially if they hardly understand and know it. People are a lot more interested with life stories and day to day experiences.
And about tabula rasa, exentialism and fusion in art, well, I don't know about those things, but you can share it. Would you mind sharing it?
Good morning jenaisle.

Hi djoyce, "tabula rasa" means that when we are born, our mind is blank. As we go on with life, little by little our concepts and ideas formed based on our experiences. It is like contrary to what other philosophers believe that at birth we have already something in our minds/memories.
Existentialism on the other hand is a philosophy about people reacting to events happening in their lives and therefore creating their own lives.

Philosophy is here to help people. It should help us show the way out of everyday problems or help us understand life as such. Just a shame philosophy is more and more neglected. Now that I think of blockbuster Matrix, Plato and his allegory of the cave comes to my mind. Plato shows that there are two worlds people live in just as in Matrix. Nonetheless, only one world is the real one.
