| |  Though I am not a writer, I use computer more than 10 years. I found Microsoft Word is the best.It's user interface is great and user friendly. It has also a lots of formatting features. If you think for free alternative, Open Office is also good.

| |  I'm not a writer either. But I've been using the computer to write reports and other school requirements for years now. And I use MS word. I've used Open Office a couple of times, but I'm more at home with MS word since I've been using it for ages.

| |  By convenience I meant that since so many of my collegues were using Microsoft Word then it was more convenient to use what they were using instead of having to convert everything I did so they could read it.

| | PDF(portable document format) have exist for a long while. It is the most portable format, before odf(open document format) and arise. why not using pdf to share a document with your friend? there are too many free application to read a pdf available to download. :) | | | |

| |  Microsoft Word. Probably because of its wide usage and normally this is how correspondences are written. But for quick program scripts, notepad will do.

| |  I write once and a while, and i would say that Open Office is the best. I have used Microsoft Word, and Open Office has all the features of Microsoft word! And the best part is, Open Office is 100% free! So check that one out.
