Do you strictly adhere to food expiration dates or do you give it an extension?

If so, how long would you believe it is safe to extend? For me I follow accordingly, since I know SOME foods are poisonous when they reached expiration dates...

For milk, it would be two to three days later.. Any other foods one to 2 days later. I will also smell it constantly to see if the milk has went beyond the date..

Yes I do strictly adhere to food expiration dates. I agree with you about some food are poisonous when reach to expiration dates. When I buy foods I will make sure I will finish it before expired. If I can't finish it then I will not buy that particular food.

It all depends on the food itself. If it is dairy for example then there is no way I will drink it or eat it after the expiry date; and the same generally goes for meat, eggs and fish etc as well. But if it is bread, or biscuits and dry foods etc I will at least try one first and if it isn't stale or mouldy then I have no issues eating it!

I don't eat anything after the expiration date I am afraid of getting sick. My husband has had samonella food poisioning before so we are really careful with food. I always look at the expiration date at the store and buy the product that expires the latest.

I usally follow the expiration dates. If something says sell before XXXX, it still has a longer freshness date, but if it says expiration date is xxx, I won't use it. Some things have really long expiration dates, some even for a year. There are items that reach expiration, but that does not mean it can not be used, the item becomes weaker than it should be. Like spices etc.

Yes it is very dangerous to go beyond or take food that is on its expiration date. We take it in our body, and if we take it we are taking our own risks. The expiration date is placed there for us to take extra caution on the intake we are eating. So it is wise to check on these expiration dates ! Take care !

I do follow the expiration date because the way I look at is they put the expiration date on a item for a reason. I don't plan on using something that is pass the expiration date because I don't want to take the chance of getting sick. So it gets pitched if I haven't used a item by the expiration date and when I go into the grocery store to buy something I always look at the expiration date to make sure I have plenty of time before it expires. I also have found some items that are already expired and they are still on the shelves in the stores. One of those things is yogurt. When I find something like that I bring it to a person in the store and call their attention to it. It is not even supposed to be still on the shelves.

Bread still fresh after one week in tupperware air - Bread is kept in Tupperware Modular Mate. Bread is fresh to the last piece one after purchase date. Tested, tasted, proven, tried.
It depends on what kind of food that has expired. For a loaf of bread, the expiry date is usually within 4 days of purchase. But I keep the loaf of bread in a tupperware brand air tight container and the bread is still as fresh as the day we bought it exactly after one week when we finish the last piece. I did an experiment on this because I am a tupperware star consultant so as to promote the air tight container. My husband's aunt buys alot of grocery stiff like biscuits, chocolates and store up in her pantry. Most of it expires before they consume it and she always pass them to us. So I will scan through the foodstuff before we consume it. Normally for chocolates if the expiry date is too long then I would just discard it as I can't see what's inside it. But for biscuits we will consume it.

Yes i strictly adhere to food expiration dates, i strictly make sure to look at the manufacture and expiry date of every product that i buy from merchant's shop. Once i suffered from severe food poisoning for my own negligence and got a pack of juice which was 4 months expired, after that i decided not to bring home anything even if it is just one day expiry..... However strong immune system you have i think it is always wise not to have any food which is expired, for healthy reasons.......... :-). Cheers !!!!!
