How Many Days of Annual Leave Do You Have at Work?

For my job grade, I got 16.5 days. I am wondering how many annual leave have you got per year? Do you use it all up every year? We have to, otherwise the remaining annual leave will be forfeited by the company. Instead of wasting my annual leave, I apply for leave from time to time and make sure I use it all up. What do you usually do during your annual leave?

When i was still a teacher... i had 15 days paid sick leave... and 1 month paid vacation... and that was a very nice thing... if i don't use the sick leave... we get paid for that... so i tried not to be absent... and that 1 month paid vacation was for permanent teachers... if one was not permanent... she still gets the vacation but without pay...
But now that i work in the office... my situation is quite different... i dont have any annual leave... but if there are certain situations that i can't go to work... i just call the secretary of my boss and tell her i won't be able to go to the office... and there will be no salary deduction... i like it that way... at least there is no pressure for me to go to work or to skip going to the office when i need to...

365 days of leave! Yayyyy! I love being retired, but when I was working it ranged from ZERO, zip, nada, days to the most I ever had was 35 days over Christmas plus a few weeks before and after summer school. I never took a single summer off when I was teaching. To be honest for the first 30 years or so, I spent most of my leave preparing for work! Filing old documents, typing up class handouts, preparing for classes, writing procedural manuals. Same as during the term, only in my jammies, lol, and with no students popping their heads in to interrupt.

Thanks for the question friend. I just have a sad number of leaves. 20. :(
I make a point to use all of them since in our company also we forfeit the leaves which are not taken. Because of the hectic schedule, we make it a point to apply for leaves in advance and use up all of them. Even if they would have carried forward the leaves, i would have taken all of them for sure. I spend my time at home relaxing for half the vacation and traveling the other half. :)

We are given 24 leaves... 12 of which are for sick leaves and another 12 for vacation leaves. We have to use up the vacation leaves within the fiscal year or else it will be forfeited by the company (same as yours.
) The sick leaves, if unused, will be converted to cash at the end of the year. I guess that's the only good thing about not using your sick leaves. Other companies would allow you to carry your remaining vacation leaves to the next year. Great huh?

Hello wondericequeen,
My present company only gives us 16 days - It doesn't related to your job grade at all. If it is below 5 years of working, it will be 14 days. It is not something I am proud to say *sighs* Anyway, I always take my leave anytime I feel like I need it *smiles* We can bring forward the annual leave (maximum 14 days) to next year but if you still can't finish the 14 days, it will be forfeited in the next two year. If you finish up all your annual leave, you still can take leave but they will consider that as unpaid leave. By the way, we have at least 1 week leave on the last week of December, given by the company. For this year, I almost finish up my annual leave. I only have 3 days left and it is only September now. Normally I bring forward at least 7 days for the next year. Well, I don't know what I should do now...Maybe should prepare for unpaid leave after this *smiles*

I am self-employed. Therefore, I have no benefits at all. I work part-time and can take off as many days as I like and it's okay. However, I don't get paid when I don't work.
Good for you that you get over 3 weeks off a year, paid time. That is wonderful. I used to work for a hospital that gave about 4 weeks a year and it was fantastic. But, of course, it was full-time work.
Take care.
