Well on Thursday I got promoted to manager of my store. Friday my first offical day as manager, everything that could go wrong did. My credit card machine died, I had 2 gas pumps down, my alarm kept going off (and of course the cops had to keep showing up at the store), I had an employee call off, and this was all in the first hour! My second day didn't go over well either, when I went in to do my paperwork, my best employee got sick and I had to send her home, so I had to work ANOTHER double. credit card machine is still down, and my lotto machine wanted to act up as well. Then Yesterday I had to open my store, go do paperwork etc, and then cover a shift at another store. I thought getting promoted would be a good thing now i am wondering lol. I am so glad to get a day off!! I am really glad to have been promoted though! Have you ever got promoted, and regretted it? After getting did you ever want to go back to being a regular employee again?

It is nice that you got promoted. It sucks that so many things went wrong though. But maybe all those things went wrong and now things will run smoothly Congrats on the promotion!!

Tell me about it, I need lots of calm in my life. I was supposed to go in today and do paperwork, but I slept too long so my boss handeled it for me. She knew that I had been working so much and said that I needed a day off lol.

Hey there Sugar :)))) sounds like you have had a fun week. I am a nurse by trade, although not working as you probably know. But I always enjoyed making charge nurse, floor nurse or head nurse which ever way the institution at the time called it. There were more responsibilities in charting and patient supervision but less of the back breaking work. got me off my feet more as well.... So how are you other then losing your mind at work?

Other than work, I have my good days and bad days. Things are going better with Kat, she has been quite a bit calmer since we aren't in each others faces all the time. She still has her moments but you know how tht goes. I wish I had a voice chat program and we could just talk about it.

I never worked long enough in one place to get promoted. I noticed that every time my pay is increased I experience more pressures from co workers and boss that I just didn't think the raise is evern worth it. Now I am only aiming for part time or temp work because I have my own small business started 2 years ago, I got a loan from bank and I want to pay it off as soon as I can just to avoid interest. Since leaving the shop for 40 hrs a week is not an option, I can only work p/t or temp

That sounds like a nightmare of a promotion, but I am sure that it will get better! I have never been promoted but I have changed jobs before and that turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. I had started off working in a nursing home as a domestic cleaner, I had been in the job a few days when I realised I had made a mistake I did not want to be a cleaner I wanted to be a carer. I kept it to myself for a long while, and would spend a lot of time with the nurses and the residents and other carers learning a bit and making sure it was what I wanted to do. It was. So when I heard of a job going as a care assistant I decided to go for it, it was part time hours, just 6 hours per shift and about 3 or 4 days a week which was not much more than I was doing as a domestic which was perfect. I was a single parent at the time and so it would fit around my son a treat. I got the job and I was made up! But within a couple of hours I was told that there had been a mistake with the hours, it was not going to be part time it was going to be full time and that would mean me working 12 hour shifts and weekends too. I was gutted but I wanted the job so I agreed.

Congratulations on your Promotion Sweetie, and no it is not easy believe me, I was an Area Manager for 8 years before I got sick and I am afraid it is a challenge but I love Challenges I had worked myself up from the Bottom and I have to say each promotion was more of a Challenge, more responsibility more using your Initiatives, sorting Problems, taking Responsibility and of course looking after and covering Staff, it is stressful but I loved my Job and I hope that you will enjoy it to Good Luck Sweetie

congratulations manager dear! guess fate's trying to test your limits eh?hehe but dont give up. . you can do it, you are promoted to the position that you are currently in because your bosses think you are best for the position so be happy and be proud of yourself. about the not so good experiences that you have with the first few days, well that's just part of it..you'll get the hang of it soon and everything will become smooth and easy for you. what's good with starting out with those difficult situations as a manager is that, easy problem will be a piece of cake after going through those that you have gone through a few days ago.. so cheers and have fun!! good luck with work and hope that would still give you sometime here despite the hectic schedule!

Congratulations to you, Erilyn. But then, it doesn't sound that good unless it pays lots more. Sounds like you've had a hard few days as manager. Maybe it will get better and you just got in on all the problems that were about to happen for the other manager. Hope your next few days will be as good as these days have been bad.
