I have been to Hongkong, shanghai, wuhan, northeast, beijing... in China. Thus, I have a rudimentary grasp of Chinese personalities in some cities. Manchurian, for example, live in northeast China. They are honest, tolerant, friendly. Sometimes, some people are careless about their behaviors. Thus, u may think they are coarse, rude and vulgar! However, It is no more than a misunderstanding! Perhaps I can make it clearer by saying they are generally more conservative. Also, most girls don't like too much cleavage! Personally, I think is pretty good! As the contry drama reflected, some people are contrified. It is partly true. Notwithstanding, it is really exaggerated! What associations does Wuhan city have for Chinese? The first answer is shrew. Sure, it is kind of overstated. True enought! The atrocious weather makes astrocious manners. The crowded traffic makes the crazy pedestrians and drivers. They are honest and forthright with strangers on the other hand. As a result, they are neither guileful nor deceptive. U have to admit that the city has greatly developed! Where were the impression of Shanghai? Just as Jane's novel goes, it can be defined as pride and prejudice! Some Shanghai people are very proud! Thus there is a lot of discontent among comelings. This is the bare truth! Whereas, it is my favorite city! I like the Shanghai Oriental Broadcasting Tower, which is awesome! By the way, many civilized people are know in this civilized city! Beijing are bejing people's beijing! There are all kinds of fish in a sea! The population of bejing is pretty large! So, it is very hard to explain! Sometimes, good and bad, advantage and disadvantage, u name it! But most people are aspirant. I found it amazing that some old people learn Enlish with passion! Also, if u don't give your seat to the elderly, the weak, the disable and the sick, u will be despised by people in the city! Hong kong people are always in a hurry! They are shopping in a hurry! They are working in a hurry, Not to mention dining! Time flies! It is reasonable that they appreciate time! When a thing reaches its extreme, it reverses its course, however! Ooh, I almost forget! Some people are really cunning! Lol, don't hesitate to pay more attention here! Anyway, the city is very beautiful, I like this fanstastic Ocean Park Hongkong! U may know that some guys are very kind including Jack Chan! A coin has two sides! My opinion is only imperfect and deficient! Please don't laugh at me if I am wrong! What's the personality in your city? Would u like to share?

As I read your description of Chinese cities, I kept thinking that we have cities in the US just like that. The city where I live was just a little burg when we moved here in 1962. Now, the population has grown to close to 50,000. Once it was a small farming community. Then, the military built an Air Force base nearby. The married airmen had to have a place for their families, so the face of our town started to change. More tract houses were built. The airmen who bought those houses were from all parts of the US. Many had wives from foreign countries where they had previously been stationed. They were all different, but they had the military in common. During wartime, the men would be sent away. Maybe they would return, and maybe they would not. The military partner would also usually have TDY duty, where they would be sent away to another base somewhere for up to a year or longer, always unaccompanied. The wives clung to each other for support. Whether they came from New England, California, or the deep south, race or country of origin didn't matter. They were all Air Force wives. Even local dialects frequently disappeared. This is the old part of the town where we live. Our neighbors are mostly Air Force veterans who settled in this neighborhood when their children were young, liked Texas and retired here. Our neighbors are like extended family. The new subdivisions are different. The people there may work at one of the nearby military base, or they may commute to the nearby city. Both parents work. Sometimes they don't know anything about their neighbors. The town is growing by leaps and bounds, but I feel that it has lost its identity. Maybe the original German speaking settlers felt the same when all of us military families moved here.

I learn something here! Thanks for your kind sharing! I am very interested in American cities! In the past, I entertained a dream to go to canada or Austrilia further my study! Now, I may change my mind and go to the united states! By the way, I wish I will get a fellowship. Have a nice day!

If you do decide to come to the US, I hope you will decide to visit San Antonio, Texas. That is the large city to which our small city is near. It is a beautiful, city with a Spanish heritage. The weather is usually good. It gets very hot in the summer, but everything that can be air conditioned is. It is a very tourist friendly. It's not necessary to speak Spanish, but it might be helpful occasionally. We caucasians are in the minority. I'd say that the split is about 45/55 %. A little more about Schertz, where I live. It was founded by Sebastian Schertz. He and his group came from a German speaking area of France. A few of his descendants still live here.
