On October 5,2007 I went to the doctor. As always I presented my insurance card.It was United Healthcare. And paid the office co-pay. Around this same time my hubbys employer changed insurances. We received a bill, which we paid our portion. UHC paid the rest. Fast forward to August 21, 2008. We recieve a bill saying charges for the 10/2007 visit are delinquent we have 10 days from 8/21/08 to pay the bill. We got this statement yesterday. Giving us 3 days to pay the bill. Apparently due to insurance changes UHC took back their payment. Our current insurance has a 90 file policy. Which means the doctors office had until 1/05/08 to file. Our current insurance will not reconsider. It took the billing department 10 months to get this to us! To say ANGRY is an understatement!!My hubby paid the bill this morning. Ever had a similar situation? How was it handled?

Ah, medical bills. Yes, I've had problems with those, but I don't like to dwell on it. Insurance woes are one thing. But, then again, hospitals don't seem to try to keep in mind where they can save you money, either. There is an issue about an ambulance which was called to take my daughter to a hospital when I could have driven her myself.

I am sorry to hear about that. But I figure all doctors visit made with in the time that you still had the others insurance that they should have paid and left it at that. Not taken it back. They seem to not want to let a dollar go. I can understand your being mad because I would be also, especially with a baby on the way and you needing that money for the baby and it's needs.

If it was a matter of the office not submitting the bill to the correct insurance company, then the non-payment is their fault and they can't bill you for something they should have filed with the new insurance company.
