Well I have my niece and her boyfriend coming out this weekend for a fun filled time both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the 3 of us will be heading to the Minnesota Rennasiance Festival early in the morning. I was there last year wu=ith them as well. here's a photo of me with one of the actors there. Look at all that hair I had last September. My favorite thing at the RenFest is the Coronation of the King and Queen each day as well as the live jopusting events. If you have a Renasiance Festival near you I suggest you go as they are a blast. http://www.renaissancefest.com/MRF/index.html then on Sunday my wife, myself, mt niece and her boyfriend will be at the Minnesota State fair all day as well. The best part I like is the Talent Show Finals at 8 p.m. We love this as well. The Minnesota State Fair is a huge facility. It is a city in itself all throught the year. http://mnstatefair.org/ Have you been to a renasiances Festival at all? Have you been to a State Fair recently?HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have never been to a Rennasicance Festival and have been to the State Fair Grounds in Texas but not while the fair was going on. It sounds like you need to start resting up for you big long fun filled weekend. Last Saturday my daughter took her son to Medieval Times in Dallas for one of his belated birthday gifts from her. They both had a really good time. http://www.medievaltimes.com/Locations/Dallas-Castle.aspx Have a great weekend and I sure hope your weather is nice for you.

This link looks like a rennasiance Festival sort of. The one here has all kinds of acts depicting the midievil times as well. The live jousting is awesome. How often is the Midieval Times held in Dallas? It is going to be in the low 80's with sunshine all weekend long. So great weather actually. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The one in Dallas is a permanent building. They went and eat and watched the live jousting show. She said it is all finger foods but I forgot to ask her what all they got to eat. I am not sure if they do this all year round but I would think they do, it is much different than what you are going to but then again sort of the same theme.

The state fair starts here next week. I will go to one of the concerts as part of my job driving my clients. My way is paid. I live four hours from the site in Kansas where we have a Ren Fest.Bonner Springs, Ks. a suburb of Kansas City. I have never been to one. My daughter says it is the same group of people that is there in Minnesota, she has been to both venues. It does sound like fun. I do not think we will make it this year either. Hubby and I are hoping to go to Missouri a little later on this fall to go to the Chestnut Roast. We went once when his sister was a traveling nurse, working in Columbia, Missouri. We had an awesome time. If we do not go there, maybe we will head out to see his sister in New Hampshire, a little bit further away, but also a nice trip. This weekend I am working. Hubby is off, though.

Ours ends on labor Day being the final day. I am about one hour at the most from the RenFest here. maybe 45 minutes usually as long as traffic isn't bad. There are a lot of the actors that do travel all over. But a lot of locals as well for the month long Fest as well. Well good luck on planning the trip to MO. Have a great day/evening. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi Grandpa Bob Wow, this sound like so much fun. I really enjoy going to fair, I wish I can say I also like the renaissance one but never been there. One day I will. They have two fair that I can think of, here in califonia. The Orange County and The Pomona Fair. We use to go every year and than everything came to a complete stop. I love the food, the exhibits and of course the rides. We did have a great time. Have a wonderful time and don't eat too much. Oh, what the heck eat all you can.

Well we have a rennasiance fair here in my state in May, I've never been to it, they call it the Castle of Muskogee, its a huge building that looks just like a castle. A friend of ours goes to it every year, he says we need to go, but for some reason it just doesn't sound interesting. We also have a state fair, in Tulsa, that will begin at the end of Sept. to the first week of Oct. its always fun, I go to that, there are always free concerts and stuff to go to.

Ours is on a large area of land they rent each year. I believe it is on a couple hundred acres and most area is used. A lot of walking and a lot of acts to see. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've never been to any of the fairs you mentioned in your post. I live in New Jersey, and years age the New Jersey state fair used to be the place to go. Over the years the venue has been changed to Giant's stadium. I have not gone since the location has been changed, but heard that it is nothing like it used to be.

There are several around the state, but I've only gone once as a attendee. I helped a friend at a booth one Sat, and was totally wiped out that night. I really didn't have as much fun as I had hoped - oh well, I guess I'm more of a Science Fiction sort of gal than a Fantasy sort.

I remember you telling me that you went last year. I hope you had a great time when you went this year. I hope your niece and her boyfriend are doing well. We have a renaissance fest about 100 miles from us. Since the price of gasoline is so high and I do not drive we have not gone. They are great fun.

I love the rennasiance! I'm hoping to get there this year, but I work almost every weekend so I doubt we will. One of the young girls I work with helps her mother out there every weekend. they have an apothocary shop I think that would be so fun. Two years ago when I went to visit my sister in colorado we went to that rennasiance and although the scenery was amazing(it on a mountain side) its not nearly as big. We talked to some of the people that "work" there and they travel around to the different ones and they agreed that Minnesotas is much better/bigger. My favorite show there is the tortuga twins, they're the funniest. have a great time!

We went to a Rennasiance Festival years ago. It was lots of fun seeing the old costumes and the jousting tournament. We haven't been to a fair or festival in ages.

It seems like fun to me. We donot have any Renasiance Festival here. All the festivals here are religious and I do like them a lot. They are not as good as Renasiance Festivals but they are also great

I have never been to a Renaissance Faire, but I am thinking of going one of these days. I have been to the Los Angeles County fair more times than I can count because I live right next to it. I live in Southern California, so I am next to everything. Disneyland, Angel's Statium, and the Renaissance Faire are only a half an hour away from me; Dodger's Statium, The LA Convention Center, Ontario Convention Center, Universal Studios, and Six Flags are one hour away from me, and everything else is about two hours each way. Everything is within a 20 minute to 2 hour radius give or take traffic.

Hi Grandpa Bob! Looks like you're in for a long and happy weekend!! Lucky you!! If I were well, I'd ask "Can I come too?! LOL I think that's wonderful in what you're doing with your family, be it with your grandkids or nieces and nephews! You're making such wonderful memories for them to cherish for the rest of their lives to be told to their kids and grandkids that they some day have themselves!! Way to go!!
