That's actually a cool idea! This can actually bring us closer. Having to hear your voice certainly makes me thrilled. But the flip side is the intriguing part of mylot would be lost to great extent. Intrigue and mystery certainly has a charm of its own..

Personally, I would not participate at all if the posts were audio or video. The advantage of typing the responses for me is that I can do it while watching a movie or having a conversation with hubby or both. I can type a response in one window while doing some kind of work in 3 or 4 or more other browser tabs. I cannot multitask well with audio, which is a linear form of communication, and necessarily less interactive.

Yes, I know I type faster than most people, but anyone who is on here much surely picks up speak after a while, don't you think? Lol, if my fingers hurt after typing a lot, I never would have been able to put hubby through graduate school. I used to type 8-10 hours a day with lawyers yelling "hurry up" and answer the phone at the same time.

Don't just wish. You can send a message to "myLot" (without the inverted commas) and make a case for this feature. If they think it is feasible, they might implement it in one of the future updates.

But really, my take is few would bother to play a video showing you (at least after the initial novelty wears off; and by "you", I mean the general you which includes you, me, Mary, Tom and every other myLotters ) or playing the mp3 with your voice.

I do recognize the chore it sometimes is to type. After all, our thoughts move faster than our fingers. It would be likely easier to say something than type since syllabuses are usually fewer in number than characters in the words.

I have considered investing in a software than transcribe what I say to written words in myLot. From what I understand, the currently industry leader is a program called Dragon Naturally Speaking. However, it costs a few hundred bucks and mine, you must think me a miser! Anyway I don't have the budget for what I consider more of a frivolity than a need.

That's a good idea. The one problem is you might not be able to understand what some people are saying because of the language barrier or even because they have foreign accents. There's a chance you might not understand my accent as I'm from Ireland.

Things like this can definitely make things interesting but they also require a LOT of storage space and monitoring content becomes really hard too. Then there are issues with copyright for audio because people would end up putting music etc on here as well. Being able to have speech to text functionality would be great but maybe placing audio posts would not be overly well received either because it would always be a one sided conversation! lol. We can at least put links to videos and things here for now!
