A Canadian Airline,Jazz, has for economy reasons decided to offload the lifevests from some of it's aircraft that fly transcontinental routes (ie,not so much over water) to save weight and thereby fuel...how much weight? about 25 kilos...the budget airlines around here have baggage allowances of 10 kilos per person..that doesn't sound like a lot of weight saved to Me..I'm not a big person, and I weigh near triple that..What do you think about the idea? If they're not going to be flying over water,I suppose a lifevest IS superfluous..the seat cushions that double as flotation devices will remain,though..
What else do you think could be done away with on inland flights?
