Potty Training Early |
|
My daughter is just over a year old, she has been interested in the potty since she was 9 months. We put her on sometimes... and have worked with panties... but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions to help us in this process. We cannot get her to say the word potty... but she will take her diaper off or go to the bathroom and put the potty seat on the toilet when she has to go. I'm looking for serious responses only... from parents who've done this at a young age. Thanks!

1. lilybug (15395) | 1 year ago | My daughter is 19 months old. When she was about 9 months old she was always wanting to use the potty. She was successful for about 2 weeks. Then she lost interest. She got interested again at 14 months old and lost interest again a few weeks later. Now at 19 months she will go every once in awhile, but it is nowhere near regularly. Don't get upset if she changes her mind. A year old is still pretty young. Just try to make it a pleasant experience for her and don't get mad if she doesn't use it.

2. freefogging (293) | 1 year ago | If she can't say the word potty, then she is not ready to be ptty trained. Usually kids are ready close to the age of 2. But they need to be able to talk, know that they are not suppose to potty in their pants and be able to tell a parents or someone that they have to go potty.

| alnoodle (26) | 1 year ago | She can talk... she just won't say potty. She knows what it means... and if you ask her... she'll tell u if she has to go or not. She's just stubborn and doesn't like to say certain words because we want her to. If she is interested, I want to encourage it. We have another baby on the way... so if she is interested in potty training... I'm all for it. But she is a stubborn child and won't say words because we want her to say them... but I do know she knows what potty is and what it means.
