2. lazeebee (4535) | 1 year ago | I loved fairy tales and princesses - my favourite was Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. We didn't have a lot of coloured picture books, cartoons or movies like now.
I lived then in a safer neighbourhood, where children could run around and play. We had a group of friends, and we used to pretend to be Snow White, the princesses, Prince Charming or other characters in the fairy tales we read about.

| 3. Margdean (42) | 1 year ago | I guess that I was a more "practical" child than most, but then I wanted to be a school teacher when I grew up! I remember the Bobbsey Twins and Nancy Drew. (I'm glad to see those books still on the shelves.) Oh, and Trixie Beldon; gosh, I haven't thought of those books in forever. It is hard for me to choose a favorite. As a child, we lived way out in the boonies with no neighbors close by and no tv. So after the farm chores were finished and we had free time, we read alot. Bless her heart, Mom made sure we had plenty of reading material and she bestowed upon us (7 kids) her love of reading and learning. I do remember sneaking a flashlight under the covers and reading half the night away when I was supposed to be sleeping! Don't tell anyone, but I still do! Ha-Ha.

| 4. morgrim (9) | 1 year ago | Wow that's going back a ways for me!!!
Yes, I too enjoyed the Dr. Seuss books. Isn't it great how they are still popular with the children of today?
One of my favorites of all time was: Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak Still enjoy the artwork in that one and it's probably the book that caused me to progress to The Worm Ouroboros by E. R. Eddison and to Tolkien's Hobbit and Lord of The Rings.
One book stands out from my childhood but I can't remember the Title or Author. It was a book about a boy that was playing with his fathers gun, I believe. The gun accidentally went off and the story told the path of the bullet. The thing I remember most was every page had a hole in it where the bullet had passed. I looked for that book every time I went to the Library.
Thanks for bringing these memories back!!!

7. DCMerkle (600) | 1 year ago | There was a book that I had at Christmas time. I don't remember the title, but it was a book that was longer than wide. It had stories, poems, and carols in it. It was pink....lol....That's all I can remember about it other than I loved it to pieces which may be why I don't have it anymore. I would love to have a new copy for my grandchildren to read to them for Christmas. Anyone have any ideas as to what the title to that book may have been?
