What are your favorite arts and crafts you liked learning as a kid and still do now? For me there were so many different ones I either learned in grammar school or later in life: Weaving- I started out with the small loom with the sock loops then upgraded to a small weaving machine with yarn when about 10. Origami-I learned this after watching Shari Lewis on Lambchop's Play along make a box and heart. I had did those two patterns plus made a bird, airplane, house, and a giraffe. Beading: I learned this in school first then start making cute bracelets that had my name. Scoubidoos: The girls I went to school with, made these for their keychains. Knitting and Crocheting: I know this actually would come under needlecraft. I learned this in my early 20s and learned how to do coasters, granny squares etc.

1. thebeaddoodler (1858) | 3 months ago | My mother taught me to crochet the year before I started school. I was very bored without my brother and drove her nuts whining, so she taught me to crochet. I still crochet to this day. In summer camp when I was 9 or 10, I learned to do leather braiding with 4 pieces of leather and wish I could remember how to do it. In the eighth grade I learned leather tooling and would have liked to continue in this, but the price of the materials were always prohibitive so my crafts took less expensive directions, like making flowers and peacocks and Christmas Trees from styrofoam egg cartons and foiling inexpensive vases and/or plaster of paris figures. I guess I've tried about everything out there but the ones I still do are crochet, beading, sewing and a little bit of embroidery.

2. Loverbear (623) | 3 months ago | When I was three or four my Mom would go to the fabric store to buy stuff for whatever she was making at the time. The owner always had a bag of bits of lace, ribbon and fabric for me to take home and play with. I learned to sew, and now over 40 years later I still sew. I am currently making reversible dog coats for small dogs. I plan to sell them at a craft show in December. They are made out of fleece and are going to be great! I am also learning how to needle felt. I just ordered a book and needles (I have one needle felting needle but I haven't got an idea of where it is right now! I also crochet, knit, water color, do hand thrown pottery, photography and what ever else interests me. My main source of enjoyment is sewing.

5. neededhope (165) | 1 day ago | I actually still love to bead. I love to create new creations and to hold themin my hands. It's amazing what a person can really make if they just put there mind to it. I also like wood burning although I'm not very good at it. And wood craving which tests my patience. And of course painting. But I'm not very good at it but I enjoy making a mess even at this age.
