Hi there,
Have just responded in another discussion about what books you like to read and I did say that I find books set in the USA hard to read, now I'm sure i'm just picking up the wrong ones or in england we just don't have any good ones.
So can you help me find some good books to read that are set in the USA. I'm a middle of the road girl, 45 next week, no sc fi, horror gun crime sorts of books. I do like books set in 18c as I like that period of time but only the working class side of things.
When I was a child I loved watchnig the Waltons and I have n't long finished re watchnig a lot of the Little House on the priaire on dvd.
I think you must have some idea of my reading tastes but I'm open to new stories about anything and any period but not about sci fi etc.
Looking very forward to seeing what you mylotter friends can come up for me to read.
Many thanks

I think it may be that american books have an american sense of humour - which is so different from English.
I find it difficult to relate to the american way of life and their values may be different to ours - maybe that is why?
