Why I won't vote for (fill in the blank) | | | | The last few weeks I have been seeing a lot of back and forth and bickering between people over the presidential candidates. Then it hit me that everyone is so consumed with making it clear why they will vote for their candidate, that they don't give specifics on why they won't vote for the other. Here's why I won't vote for John McCain. Veterans. He's an absolute hypocrit when it comes to our veterans. He is the first in line to tout his POW experience, wave the flag and yell "Country First". But his voting record tells a blatantly different story. He has consistently voted agaist our troops, when he's bothered to show up to vote for anything to do with them at all. September 2007: McCain voted against the Webb amendment calling for adequate troop rest between deployments. At the time, nearly 65% of people polled in a CNN poll indicted that "things are going either moderately badly or very badly in Iraq. July 2007: McCain voted against a plan to drawdown troop levels in Iraq. At the time, an ABC poll found that 63% thought the invasion was not worth it, and a CBS News poll found that 72% of respondents wanted troops out within 2 years. March 2007: McCain was too busy to vote on a bill that would require the start of a drawdown in troop levels within 120 days with a goal of withdrawing nearly all combat troops within one year. Around this time, an NBC News poll found that 55% of respondents indicated that the US goal of achieving victory in Iraq is not possible. This number has not moved significantly since then. February 2007: For such a strong supporter of the escalation, McCain didn’t even bother to show up and vote against a resolution condemning it. However, at the time a CNN poll found that only 16% of respondents wanted to send more troops to Iraq (that number has since declined to around 10%), while 60% said that some or all should be withdrawn. This number has since gone up to around 70%. June 2006: McCain voted against a resolution that Bush start withdrawing troops but with no timeline to do so. May 2006: McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities. April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes. March 2004: McCain once again voted for abusive tax loopholes over veterans when he voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive tax loopholes. Jeez, McCain really loves those tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over our veterans' needs. October 2003: McCain voted to table an amendment by Senator Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq and to reduce the amount provided for reconstruction in Iraq by $322,000,000. April 2003: McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests. August 2001: McCain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans by $650,000,000. To his credit, he also voted against the 2001 Bush tax cuts, which he now supports making permanent, despite the dire financial condition this country is in, and despite the fact that he indicated in 2001 that these tax cuts unfairly benefited the very wealthy at the expense of the middle class. How can somebody who proposes to be so patriotic and have our troops best interests at heart have a voting record like this? Why should we make him commander in chief? I want to hear from everybody, whether you support Obama or McCain, and let's try to keep it reasonable. | | | | | | | | | | Military Education Earn your college degree 100% online. | | The reasons you state are kind of like the icing on the cake for me. Whne I found out he was running again this election for a brief moment I thought "yeah, the Republicans are going to step it up". But that sure didn't happen. I thought maybe he would take a higher road with his campaign, given what he put up with in 2000, but he didn't do that either. I totally agree that women deserve a right to choose. I also think the choice of Palin was ridiculous, and transparent, and believe with all my heart that that simple action right there is enough to prove that he is not worried about "Country First". His behavior reminds me of behavior I see in my children. If one of them is doing something wrong they accuse the other one of doing it so the heat momentarily gets taken off them. I hope I explained that right, it's kind of heard to put into words. | | | | ZephyrSun (3727)

| | I had to chuckle when you said that about your kids, because I have shared some laughs with my husband over his behavior being childlike. I do have to say that I really admired Kerry in the 2004 election but then when he lost I often wondered if either the American people were not fed up with Bush, or if it was his clean race. I have thought at times that Obama has had to do some slam ads and was glad to see that he would. But, I do have an idea about the ads, I think, you know, at the end where it says, "I'm John Doe and I approved this message" I think they should be forced to say, "I'm John Doe and I approved this attack ad". | | | | | | | Military Education Earn your college degree 100% online. Thank you - thank you - thank you. I am going to copy all of that and send it to my parents and siblings and start WWIII. | | | | | | | soccermom (1810)

| | Awww, I love you too, but if you see lloydanthony don't tell him. I asked him to marry me the other day should I ever find myself single and he said yes! LOL! So am I correct in assuming you come from a Republican family? I do to, so Republican that my FIL had a pic of Bush in his den and elephant figurines all over the house. His mother was secretary for the Republican committee in IL for 30 years. But I have spoken to him earnestly and from the heart and shown him the facts on McCain. I am proud to say I have brought him to our side. He's a vietnam vet who lost most of a lung and he was shocked at McCains voting record. | | | | | | | Ask a Military Lawyer Now 19 Military Lawyers Are Online! Ask a Question, Get an Answer ASAP. | | Seems to me John McCain opposing the veteran bill was for a very good reason and if people was being honest and fair they would state the truth and facts of the whole matter John McCain was not fighting against veterans he was fighting the pork spending, congress had tucked inside the G.I. bill all in which would line their already deep pockets even more. John and Cindy McCain son was serving his country in Iraq and their other son in the United States Navy, people that are spreading John McCain was against the veterans is nothing more then Bulls___,he fought the pork spending within the bill and not the venerates as people like to spread. Senator John McCain has always served and fought for the United States and so has his family back four generations,John McCain stood alone fighting in congress for the surge knowing first hand it was what the United States had to do,he fought George W. Bush and he fought Barack Obama he fought even alone for what was the best thing to do, he fought hard and he won and saved our nation from defeat and dishonor, had Obama and Bush had their way the United States would had when down in history as a failure with great dishonor and disgrace, because senator John McCain is a military hero and servant to the people he saved the day and we have had much victory in Iraq thanks to the man senator John Sidney McCain. Barack Obama two days ago had his first interview on Fox news,he was gave his first invitation for an interview in Feb 2008,on Sept 5 TH he appeared on Fox news for his long awaited interview. At fox news he is not the media darling he would have to come clean with the American people and answer the question put before him. The first interview he was asked has the surge been successful Obama did not want to answer the question head on,he said ah,hum, well no one thought it would be as good as it was,Bill O'Rielly asked him nobody? Obama said well, ah that's right,O'Reily went on to ask Obama if John McCain fought him on the surge,in the end Barack Obama had to admit what he has refused to admit yes John McCain was right the surge has been very successful. Barack Obama and George W. Bush fought against the maverick John Mccain over the surge,Obama voted against the surge and John McCain fought Barack Obama and George W. Bush and while he fought them life's was being lost on both side had they not fought as they both did against John Mccain life's would had not been lost,John Mccain was 110% correct and at long last sitting in the Fox news hot box Obama had to adit it,John McCain was correct on the surge. Barack Obama second part of the Few news interview airs on Monday and I hear it gets heated up,Barack Obama is not Fox news media darling like he at CNN and MSNBC he will answer the questions put to him by Bill O'Reilly. Far as reasons that I could never vote for Barack Obama is he has wrote two books first Dreams from my father and second Audacity of hope, both books are riddled with black liberation theology which is a base teaching that the rich white race has stole everything from the black race and the time has come to take it back. Black liberation theology teaches the government has been guilty of enslaving the black people even forcing the black to serve a white Jesus. Barack Obama and his wife have been supportive active members of Jeremiah Wright's Trinity church for over twenty years,Jeremiah Wright is a firm believer and he teaches black libation theology at Trinity church. I can not support any one with a base teaching the rich white people have abused and stole from the poor black people and the black people have to take back from the white people what they have stole,in the 21 century I can not support any one with this base teaching because it is most dangerous for my country. People should be noting Barack Obama first thing says he will tax the hell out of the rich and the business's,black liberation theology base teaching time to give back to the poor black people after all the rich white people are guilty of stealing away from us the black people time to pay back tax the rich, take it back which distribution of money, Quoting>> Obama how is the time, the time has come. Jeremiah Wright said in one of his sermon mentioning Oprah W,Colin Powell,Condalisa Rice pointing how rich they are,he noted for every dollar they have a poor black has nothing,so in black theology thinking the black that have became rich like the white are the same as the white in black theology thinking. Barack Obama's two book if you have read them let's the reader know the book is about him and his dreams of how the world should be. Barack Obama has a half sister that lives in Kenya, she has had a numbers of interviews both by Kenya and United States reporters, she is on record more then once explaining all of her family was raised Muslim, she is Barack Obama mother's second child and half sister to Barack Obama Jr. Ralia Odingo who is the cousin of Barack Obama he has just recently became the prime minister of Kenya,he is a Muslim socialist that leads with a iron hand,August 2008 Odinga order another tribe to be murdered the women where raped in the presents of their husbands then murdered in cold blood, source Kenya newspapers, the Africa standard newspaper.Kenya. Barac Obama over the phone August 2008 had his cousin Ralia Odinga n the phone telling his cousin to call for calm, source U.S. govenment insider Barack Obama is from the same Africa tribe as his father Barack Obama Sr who was a socialist muslin born in Kenya,Raila Odinga is from the same tribe as Barack Obama Sr,both strong Muslims socialist. Barack Obama half sister has told the truth all of her family is Muslim. Please note Barack Hussein Obama dose not have three true muslin names because he is not a muslin the truth is he is 100% Muslims and that is why he has three strong and true Muslims names, there is much in this name. Time dose not allow but these are just a few reasons I know Brack Hussein Obama Jr is far to dangerous of a man to be place in to power in the U.S.A. | | | | soccermom (1810)

| | Kenny, first let me say that I respect everyones opinion, so let's try not to make this nasty, okay? I'm the first to admit that I get a tad irritated with you because we go back and forth on things and then you never post a response when something is said that you don't like. I'd like to see you back up some of your opinions with facts. That being said.. I understand that sometimes senators will vote against a bill because it has too much pork. But when you get down to it shouldn't the safety and welfare of our veterans and troops trump all? And isn't it the McCain camp that attacked Obama for voting "present" in the Illinois senate on bills that he felt weren't up to snuff? At least he was there to vote. McCain had quite a spurt in 2007 when he missed 10 of 14 votes that related to the military. I think the victory in Iraq depends upon how you look at it. Yes, the death count has slowed down and yes Anbar is going back to Iraqi control. But the point is we never should have been in this mess in the first place. Iraq was not our immediate enemy, and our military and foreign interests would have been better served going to where the problem really was. Afghanistan. I was glad when Obama told O'Reilly that he was wrong on the surge, it showed me he can admit to his mistakes. However, I was upset that O'Reilly wouldn't let Obama finish the thought (no surprise there). And part of the point is that Iraq is a problem of our governments own making, it was not a threat, and although the surge may be showing some success, we are still spending billions of taxpayer dollars every month while Iraq sits on a $79 billion surplus. Our troops are suffering from battle fatigue, and the medical costs to treat the physical and mental wounds our soldiers are suffering from won't go away when we are out of their. Our kids and grandkids will be paying for this war for a long time. I have never heard Obama say that it is time for the black community to take back from the white. The simple fact is that in our history blacks have not always been treated equal, and some would argue that inequality still exists today. The simple fact that people have come out and said they would not vote for him because of his skin color supports the fact that racism still exists in this country. Jeremiah Wright is an old story. I equate it to this. My father was raised a devout Catholic, private Catholic school and all that. He was taught that abortion is wrong, homosexuality is wrong, so on and so forth. Does that mean my dad agrees with all of that? No. You don't have to go to a church where you agree with everything that is being preached, you go for one common purpose, to worship God. Yes, Barack has a muslim name. Last time I checked babies didn't pop out of the womb and let you know what they'd like to be called. And yes he has family in Kenya. We don't control what our families do. (Ask Sara Palin.) And as far as Kenya goes, they have a set of problems over there that I feel we as Americans can't even begin to comprehend. His family overseas has nothing to do with this election. It's a totally different culture with no bearing whatsoever on this campaign. What really irks me is one of our rights as Americans is freedom of religon, and even though Barack has professed several times that he is not a muslim, it really shouldn't matter even if he was. The anti muslim sentiment in this country is appalling, it ranks right up there with the "all black people are bad" mentality. I am tired of hearing about "McCain served his country he should be president" argument. I come from a military family too. My FIL was a POW and lost a lung in Vietnam. My uncle did 5 tours. My other uncle and grandfather were Army "lifers". My husband was a Marine. And although I appreciate every sacrifice they made for me, the fact remains that military experience doesn't qualify you to be commander in chief. | | | | magnet (1473)

| | This is an interesting discussion. I see really good reasons why I should not vote for Mccain, but whenever people give reasons why they will not vote for Obama it's usually that they don't like him or they want him to be a Muslim so bad that even though he said he is a christian people still want to believe otherwise. Half the hypocrites pretending to be all so religious worrying about Obama's religion probaly don't live like a chrisitian anyway, but who am I to judge? Prayer is not allowed in the schools, some want to take under God out the pledge of allegiance but all in a sudden some hypocritical Americans are so religious worrying about Obama's religion. It would take me too long to post why I would vote for Obama. Obama outlined it for me in the convention speech. That's why I want to vote for him. | | | | | magnolia17 (36)

| | I agree. Can you imagine the Republicans responding as Obama did to an announcement, if he had a 17 year old daughter, that she was pregnant? They'd be talking about irresponsible, dysfunctional black families, and they definitely would not be clapping for a 17 year old on stage with her boyfriend in the middle of a Republican convention. The fact that Bristol is pregnant is of no consequence, but the truth is that the religious right would not have responded the same way to such an announcement about any Democratic politican's daughter. I also have questions about religious beliefs. How religious is it to demand that a child be born, but to not worry about whether the mother can afford to take care of the child, has a job that allows her to protect her own and her child's health, has no sick days to take off when her child is ill, etc. I don't call that remotelly "pro family." | | | | | magnolia17 (36)

| | Funny. I have a hard time trusting a woman who says she opposed a bridge, but really lobbied hard for it and only gave up when it was clear she would not get it. I have trouble trusting a woman who talks about how proud she is that her daughter chose to have her baby, but she vetoed funding for mothers in need in Alaska. She says the scientists have said that polar bears are not in trouble in Alaska, but actually that is not what they said. She does not know what the Bush doctrine is, and, if she becomes President, which I hope will not occur, she will be putty in the hands of others who will make her decisions for her since she knows little on her own. | | | | whiteheather39 (15568)

| | I agree magnolia, if Obama had a pregnant 17 year old daughter it would be viewed as "typical black family", those are the words of one of my black friends, not mine. But everyone knows, just few will say it. As far as being forced to have a baby, I agree with magnolia here too. That's great Palins kid has decided to have her baby, but she is one of the few 17 year olds that have a family that can help her afford it. Not everyone is that fortunate. I am not saying that it's right to choose an abortion just because you can't afford to have a baby, but in reality how fair is that to the child? To be raise in poverty with parents that can't afford to raise them properly, and fight a system that won't give them any help? That's my problem with the Rebulicans, they scream pro life, but don't want to support any social programs that would give that child quality of life. | | | | | | | Criminal Investigator MS 100%Online Master Degree in Forensic Psychology/Criminal Investigation EducationDegreeSource.com/Free_Info | add comment | | | |

| | I am for Obama. The Pew Research polls show that 80% of Americans think the country is going the wrong way. If that is so, I can't figure out why anyone would give the folks who took us the wrong way another four years. Specifically, though, I believe very firmly in some of Obama's positions. As an American who lives overseas, I've seen Europeans already be way ahead of us in solving the energy crisis. The Mini Coopers for sale in Europe get around 64 mpg. Ours get around 30. That is just one example. The European SMART Car gets around 70 mpg. The one that is going on sale in the U.S. does not. Even though gasoline is easily double the price in Europe that it is in the states, the net result is almost the same since they get better mileage. Europe encourages alternative energies, and we are still saying oil, oil, oil. We have folks in the U.S. who work two jobs (neither of which gives the person 40 hours a week) so that they don't get benefits such as health insurance, paid leave, etc. That is wrong, period. When the Republicans care about the quality of life people live, they are worth listening to. Until then, I prefer that we have a president who cares about people and what is happening to them. The Republicans so far are into scaring people and making you think that anyone who does not agree 100% with what is happening in the U.S. is unpatriotic. How can you make a country better if you agree with everything currently happening? | | | | | | | whiteheather39 (15568)

| | Whiteheather, she is an American living overseas, which means she still retains her right to vote. I had quite the conversation with one of my policyholders the other day, he is European, and was just as confused as a lot of citizens in this country on why European cars are built by the same companies but yet get twice the gas mileage. He said gas over there is outrageously expensive, but it is offset by the fact that there is wonderful public transportation, and their cars are way more fuel efficient. They don't face the energy problem like we do. As far as the heath care system in this country, I don't have the solution. However magnolia makes an excellent point about employers hiring part time only, usually at lower wages, and avoiding paying for medical benefits. | | | | | | | US Military Record Search Search US Military Records & Find Anyone's Military Records Instantly!
