Democrats trash US flags after their convention...  

I hope you are being sarcastic, but if not, you are supposed to take a flag you want disposed of to a local veteran's center where they properly take care of it, not throw it in the trash.

Were you aware there are rules for handing the US flag? You may not, but I'm willing to bet the DNC is, and putting all those flag in plastic bags and leaving them out behind the Dumpster is NOT a part of flag protocol.

I was actually not aware of that. Tell me does that extend to all flags regardless of size or material? Does it include the little ones you stick in muffins and sandwiches?

You can burn the little ones yourself or the big ones for that matter as long as you are being respectful about it....this is considered proper...but taking them to a center also shows respect. You can find out a lot doing a search on google.

Flags used to demonstrate patriotism at a political convention shouldn't be treated like so much trash, don't you agree?

Flags used in an official capacity must be handled properly.

Even the Democrats know they did wrong- they promptly accused the Republicans of stealing them, which is about as weak a defense as you can get.

Basically these people were looking to impress the world with how patriotic they are but the second the cameras were off they showed their true feelings by--to borrow your own words--"taking out the trash".

My flag isn't trash. It's not just for show.

I don't know what your policy is towards your flag in Germany, nor do I much care.

Here we have very explicit rules for the care treatment and disposal of the flag, and throwing it in the trash is as disrespectful as you can get.

If the democrats consider the flag to be so much trash, then that is how they also feel about the country that the flag represents.

There are still a lot of people in America who are offended by such disrespect.

This is one of the reasons why I don't understand blind patriotism although being protective and proud of you're country is perfectly ok by me. Because of Hitler and the Nazi time patriotism is generally being frowned on here.

Showing respect for the flag of one's nation is not "blind patriotism".

Showing disrespect for the flag of the nation you wish to lead is VERY troubling.

Blind patriotism? Either you care enough about your country to be offended by an action such as this or you don't care at all.

If that is the case, then why would you bother to stay in a country that you don't respect?

There were many who rejected Hitler and were the true patriots of Germany, so the whole blind patriotism label doesn't even apply.

You should bust into their home, guns blazing, to rescue them....when they complain just reply, "Well you had your flag hanging upside down so we thought you were in need of rescue"

Well your husband's idea probably won't end in violence and prison time, so you should go with his idea instead...lol

I don't know, I had to talk him out of going over there and fixing it himself, lol!! He was kidding, but we were tempted.

Well, regardless of how you feel about whoever the president is, either you respect the flag and the country it represents or you don't.

If you don't, then pick a border and cross it, and good riddance.

These neighbors should maybe be looking at borders.
