My 4 1/2 year old son has been wanting to go to Disney forever. We had planned to take him this summer but since I was pregnant we were not able to. I really want to take him next summer since we already promised him but my husband says that our other son will be too young. Do you think that one year old is too young to go to Disney? Obviously he wont be able to really do anything but I think that he will enjoy the characters. This trip will be more for my older son and we will go again in a couple of years for my younger one. SO what do you think?

If you're planning to go again for your younger child then I don't see anything wrong with taking your older son next year. He will be over 5 so he should be old enough to enjoy the kiddie rides and the entertainment...and since he's been wanting to go for a long time, I don't see any good reason for making him wait. Time moves soooo slowly for young children.

My son just flew down to Orlando with his wife and 2 children. My grandson is 5 and Grandaughter is 2. She is as excited as he is to go. They also went last year when she was one, and she had a great time. The spirit of the place is what is fun. At 60 I still enjoy it, anyone who goes seems to have fun. Your new one will enjoy the character and the lights and the shows. Go and have agreat time!

We took my daughter the first time when she was 2. She really enjoyed it and she still remembers it and talks about it. I think at 1 your son may be afraid of the characters, but there are lots of other things that I think he would enjoy.

I think that the two trips sounds like a good idea. My family lived in Georgia until my sister was about 2, and we'd go down all the time. This was also around Desert Storm, so we got free passes since my dad was in the army.
5 is a good age to go. Both kids can meet characters. The younger one may be a bit small for most rides, although he should be allowed on things like Peter Pan's Flight and It's A Small World. I think there might be something related to Bear in a Big Blue House at Hollywood studios (if you're going to Disney World), although I'm not sure. There is a Honey We Shrunk the Kids playplace that I enjoyed when I was younger there, too.
There's also a program at select ride where one parent and one child waits in line, while the other waits at the exit with the smaller child. When the first parent and child are done with the ride, the parent who was waiting at the exit can go on the ride with the older child without waiting in line again. Just ask at cast member about which attractions do this. This way, both parents can ride without spending so much time in line.
