Well, I'm actually almost always nice. Sometimes I wish I could be rude back to people who are rude to me. I think maybe my mom trained manners into me, so most of the time I'll maintain a demeanor of civility even when I feel anything but civil. However I just got off the telephone with someone, and I was not nice at all. I think perhaps I'll feel guilty about it later, but right now I am still ticked off. It was someone from a company who has been dogging me for a while, over a matter that has nothing to do with me. I finally got fed up when they called this time. When was the last time you got downright cranky on the phone?

I surprise myself actually with sales calls as of late.
Take last night for an example.
I saw on caller ID it was a sales call.
I answered this way exactly....
All in one breathe not giving the person a chance to speaj.
"Thank you I am not interested please remove this
name and number from your lost thank you very much."
Then I hung up.
I haven't been cranky in a long time that I recall on the phone.

LOL,today actually. I spent most of the afternoon on the phone with the mobile phone company trying to get them to understand that my husbands mobile was NOT a land line and that our payments on it were going to the wrong account. They kept putting me on hold which ended up in a disconnect and I had to phone back and start all over again with a new operator. After the fourth operator picked up I was at my wits end and started the convo with her, practically yelling that if she put me on hold I would hunt her down and shove the hubs mobile where the sun don't shine.......well needless to say, she didn't put me on hold, and was gracious enough to accept my apology, once she realized what I'd just been through. Lovely woman actually. She even managed to find our payments and assure me that our account had been properly credited. I'm reserving judgment on that promise though until I see the next bill! LOL

Oh lord I hate calling the cable company, Time Warner, they got the stupidest people working for them, or maybe they act that way so they don't have to wait on you. I called cause I was having problems with my internet and phone. They start off with this recording that you have to get by to talk to a agent. The recording keeps saying I can help you, NO YOU CAN"T! let me talk to agent. Then after tons of minutes fighting this recording, you get a person on the phone who ask for a phone number and you give it to him and he says that is not your number, damn you gave it to me, then we on to ok give me your account number on the bill so you get the bill and you read it off and they say that is not a account number that we use, duh, then this is not a bill from you. By this time you are fit to kill someone. How can these people be so dumb. I usually end up screaming at them, there is no reason for them not to know the information that they are asking you. So I guess a couple days ago when I called the cable company.

Yesterday....they called again for the umpteenth time trying to get me to subscribe to their newspaper....I had it for a couple of months..and cancelled because I didn't have time to sit down and read it! In the last couple of weeks they call almost everyday....I don't answer if I see it on my caller ID...but yesterday I told the guy where to jump off and to take me off their darn list! He said okay....I can do that....I said that would be a very good idea!

well i can't really remember the last time i got cranky on the phone. It takes a lot to get me angry, but i know that it has happened in the past, usually an argument with a girlfriend when something came up that i wasn't expecting and she just kept driving it in, so eventually i started to get a little pissy

Today! I have been hounded with dozens of calls at all different times of the day from AT&T to use their Internet connection service. I have been nice, rude, begged them not to call anymore but this time I really was ugly and threatened the poor person with harrassment charges!

Last night I got cranky with a young lady wanting me to take part in a presidential survey. What got me really annoyed was she called at around 10pm and usually when anyone calls me that late, it's family. I didn't bother looking at the number and just picked it up. As soon as she started going on about the survey and asking if I had time to answer some questions, I said rudely back to her "no thank you very much and do not call back again." I can't vote because I'm not a citizen so I don't think I would of been any use to her.

Wow, where I live in Canada there are laws against that. Here the survey and telephone
survey companies can only call up till 9pm. I know because I worked in the industry
for a while.

I got ticked off the other day when my phone range right when I had my hands in the dishwater, scrubbing pots. I had to stop, rinse off and dry my hands to answer the phone. The caller was for my husband from some political fund raising group, and they had just called the day before, and my husband told them absolutely no. I told them not to call back, but I would be surprised if they listen. Next time I'll do what my daughter does, which is to tell them to wait a minute, and then leave the phone off the hook, letting them wait and waste their time.
Though my number is on the do not call list, I still get annoying calls from charities and political things. They must think I'm a millionaire or something, but they always manage to call at an inconvenient time. I've had to track down the main office of some places where I got frequent calls to ask them to please never call me again. When I do that, I stop getting the calls, but there are always new things popping up.

Dear AmbiePam,
If my memory serves me correctly, the last time I was cranky on the phone was a week before ,I remember that time it was all my fault ,one of my friends with whom I do not have a really good realtionship with when we are in middle school .Last time he asked me whether I have a boy friend or not ,I said "no",because I don't think now is the proper time for me to find a boy friend, what's more ,my postgraduate examination will be coming soon, which is a really big thing at least for me .Then after a few days he gave me a call in respect of finding a boy friend and I said rudely "it's none of your business mind on your own things"
,I don't know why I was that rude that day ,later I made an apology to him.Seems that was my first time cranky on the phone as Molly is really so kind most of the time among her friends.
.haha

The last time I was cranky on the phone was just a few minutes ago! lol I was going through our bank account statement online and saw that my husband had been using the debit card and not remembering to tell me. It annoys me to no end when he does that because I am trying to keep track of the money and the budget, then some random charge shows up from 3 days ago. He drives me crazy sometimes.

I have been cranky a few times on the phone of late. Reason? We are getting bombarded with sales calls, and I mean we are getting 4 or 5 a day, everytime the phone rings it is never anyone fun or anyone I know it is always "good morning, you are going to buy 20 new windows" "you have debt problems we can help, take out this whopping loan only 200% interest". I became so wound up with one of them that I had to hang up!
We even changed our phone company and were promised that they would stop these calls, if anything it has become worse. So now I do not answer the phone at all, if it is someone I know I get the number after the phone has rung and I will ring them back.

Hi Pam, I think the last time I got cranky on the phone was
with someone soliciting something that kept calling and I
had told them that I wasn't interested politely and they
just kept going on and on and I tried to remain polite, but
they wouldn't stop. I didn't want to be rude, but I just
couldn't get it though to them that I wasn't interested and
in other words I wanted to get off the phone. Well, they
just weren't giving up so I finally got angry and had to
tell them straight out that I tried to be polite, but they
weren't giving me any choice and I just hung up! No, I didn't
feel guilty at all! I gave them every chance to get the message!

I believe that would be today..when my sister in law called me early while I was in bed still about the house my mom was moving out of. She thought I wasn't telling her the truth that it wasn't being rented out, that the landlords grandson was moving in that is why my mom is moving out. She asked for the number because "she wanted to call and find out herself if that was true" it made me pretty cranky and miffed. And the day before I wanted to be rude back to a woman who called because of reservations my mother made and didn't keep. My mom is in the process of moving and doesn't have a phone so she used mine and the woman got mad at me because I had no way of getting a hold of my mother. She has no phone, I have no car. but I told her as soon as I seen my mom I would tell her and she got mouthy a bit. So I was glad to hang up..Sometimes I get more calls for my mom and dad then we do for us.

Sometimes I really begin to wonder how these places can have people who work like this, and then when you complain, they act like they have done nothing wrong. The main thing that bugs me is their Supervisor even tends to take their side over mine as well. But in the past when I get someone who is Rude and I have had to react back to them, I will often ask them how they can live with themselves, and what if it was them being treated like they are treating me?
I guess too many people never really stop to turn the other cheek even when it comes to a phone and Business and dealing with people. But they need to realize that one day the tables could be turned, and they could be the one on the other side instead.

I think it was almost a month ago when i was really really cranky on the phone... and the sad thing about it is that the one on the other line sounded like she was about to cry because of the thing i said... so i felt quite guilty after that... i will be talking to that person again next week... so i will make it a point to apologize to her...

I can usually not be "cranky" over the phone. But I can be short with people if I'm pressing for a deadline and they just want to rabble on and on about nothing really, related to what they actually called to talk to be about. So that can sort of get me into a "cranky" mood off the cuff. But the minute I see that I'm about to go totally off on the person on the other line, I will simply say, that I have to go so that I can finish up what I'm presently working on. Sometimes though I can be rolling my eyes in the background without them, even seeing me. And thinking can I get this person off the phone any quicker. I know it's not the Christian way of operating, but that is how I am. No honestly, I really and truly go out of my way to inconvenience myself to that I can help someone else in need. And that it the honest truth.
