With hurricane Ike, it has me thinking about hurricanes and tornadoes. That's usually what we get around here in Virginia. I have been through a few hurricanes without any major damage, but worry that someday we will get the big one and lose everything. What about you? Do you worry? Is it enough to make you consider moving away from where you live?

i was brought up in a coastal area, i dealt with hurricanes quite a few time; but i wouldn't say i ever worried about them. I had a dream once that i was standing on the walk at the shop area of the pier and that a huge tidal wave was coming. The dream was very real and i've had it a few times. After that dream due to how real it was i was always worrying about tidal waves..i lived on a island so that's scary.
Now i live in ohio so no tidal waves to worry about...lol just tornadoes. I have never been in a twister and i've seen the damage they can do, so i worry about them where i live now.

Yes, natural disaster would really worry me enough especially in my place in the Philippines for it is rainy Season now and the Storm will always stock the way in there and most of the time because it is rainy season it is the landslide that I am worried and for the people who got affected.......

With the weather patterns changing and the increase in natural disasters that we see, for sure I am concerned. How many times these days do we hear 'that was the worst this and the worst that in so many years and often since records have been kept'. The way we are polluting the earth, things can only get worse and sooner or later we will be affected one way or the other. Here where I live in Quebec we've had our share of freakish weather. We had the worst ice storm ever a few years ago. That was in January 1998 (if my memory is right). I spent 6 days and nights without electricity or heating and in January our weather is about 20-30 degree F. I think anywhere we go now weather disasters will affect us. Things will only get worse.
