My best friend found out that she's pregnant. This is her first and I don't have any children of my own. Being that I'm the best friend, I feel that is part my place to throw the baby shower for her. When do you throw the shower? How far along should she be? She's only two or three months right now.

Generally around the 8th month, if for some reason she doesn't carry that long there is less hurt without having to deal with returning the gifts or having to look at them. Try to start the planning by mid 6th month though, get in touch with family members to find out how many out of town guests need advance knowledge for travel plans etc. And find out if she registers anywhere to make gift shopping easier. Have fun and best wishes for your friend.

Usually when the woman is around 7-8 months. Mine was held at the end of January & my due date was March. I also wanted to do it earlier in case I went early.

Usually baby showers are held during the last month of pregnancy.

A shower party is usually given on her 7th or 8th month. These are the months when they are sure if it's a boy or a girl. A shower party helps the parents a lot both financially and emotionally. Having there friends and families welcoming the soon to be born is really an emotional booster for them. However, you might want to prepare everything by her sixth month so as to be ready for anything. Best wishes!

I always did them either late 7th or the 8th months so you still have plenty of time to plan. I think deciding on where it will be is the biggest thing as places can be booked up. I am sure you will have so much fun planning the shower and your friend will be thrilled! Have fun!!!

Well, I had mine before once and the baby didn't make it. So after that when people wanted to give me a shower. I told them to wait until I had the baby home for about a month first. And that is what I did and now my son is 18 years old. He is the only one to make it. So You mite want to have it after. Yes there are things that she will need. YOu can pick up somethings and ask her when the best time for a shower would be. But then my niece had her's at 8 month's and was fun. Everything I got her I put on lay-a-way just incase. Well my great niece is now 6 years old. So is there a best time. Yes and no. Enjoy the shower. By the way they eat alot.

That is funny that you ask that because I found out that my cousin is having her baby shower in the second weekend of October. I think they are having it a little earlier than most people because they want to do a cookout and they don't want to have cold weather while having the baby shower. So they want to do it before the cold weather gets here. Her sister is planning everything.

When do I throw a baby shower?
Showers are normally given before the baby is born, generally a month or two before the mom's due date. It's a good idea to give the mom enough time following the shower to shop for items she didn't receive as gifts, yet wants to have before the baby arrives. And of course you don't want to hold the shower too close to baby's due date in case he or she makes an early arrival! Some people prefer to hold a "welcoming shower" a few weeks after the baby arrives, particularly if guests want to bring gifts specifically for a boy or girl. This is also an option if there are special out-of-town relatives (baby's grandparents, for example) that are coming post-birth and would love to attend the shower but cannot arrange two trips.
