I finally got my Christmas ornaments started

Pagoda Bell Ornament - This little bell ornament has four definite sides and looks like a pagoda roof to me.

Every year I make Christmas ornaments for my grand children and great grand children. They keep multiplying! I have finally gotten started on them this year. I made one bell that is sort of a prototype, but not the one I'll be making all the family. I've made 3 from different size beads, and each one I've changed up just a wee bit. I've enclosed a picture of the prototype.

That is a neat ornament - I really like it! I usually buy them an ornament every year. Maybe I'll try my hand at making them this year.

They usually do, even though they don't make an issue of letting me know. Most of the "grandbabies" aren't babies any more. Even some of the great grands aren't babies. Wow! I'm getting OLD!

That is so cute. What a lovely tradition you have with your family? I am sure they enjoy receiving the ornaments yearly.

Very cute! I did a bunch of the clothes pin angels one year and everyone still has them....this will be a wonderful keepsake for the kids!

Very pretty! A great handmade idea that will become more and more special as the years go by. For my in-laws I made several polymer clay snowmen. I used red and green ribbon to connect the snowman and placed a hook on the top of each head. The body of each snowman had pictures of the grandchildren. Each family had their own snowman (5 snowman in all and luckily, no family has more than 2 children) My in-laws received all 5 strung together and each of my brother-in law/sister in-laws received a snowman ornament with their children. It was interesting when my hubby's youngest sister had a baby on Dec 15th last yr and I had to scramble to get one of her newborn pictures onto the ornament. I'm not sure what I'm going to try and make this year because my son's like to do make something similar for their Aunts and Uncles, but I'll be sure to upload an image this yr.

What a thoughtful idea! One of my daughters has worked with polymer clay some, but it's not something I've taken up . . .yet. One year she made some salt dough or something similar when her children were small and they made ornaments and painted them. I had those ornaments for many years before the humidity got to them and they crumbled in spite of the water proof coating on them. I really did like those!

I love that! I make ornaments every year for my tree and my kids trees. My tree is mostly all handmade ornaments except for a few that are some old ones my Mom had. I have a hard time lately tho trying to come up with ideas for something different. Is this one your own design or is it a kit? I like it. Would it be ok if I copied it? I have a new grandson that I need to make an ornament for this year. I just remembered, I need to make him a stocking too LOL.

I have the pattern for it in my Etsy shop and also on the BeadCoop pattern site. BeadCoop is instant download and the Etsy shop one has to be e mailed when payment is received. You can find links to both in my blog. My blog link is in my profile. Thanks for the compliment!

That is a very nice ornament and I think that my kids are going to make gifts for their grandparents this year for Christmas. I may ask them to make gifts for their friends too as money is going to be much tighter this year and I know that we have to get things under control and not spend too much. My oldest daughter has gotten a place of her own to move to when she graduates this year and so I plan on getting her a lot of items for it and I am sure that I can make a lot of them. I bet she would like ornaments. Maybe I can find a way to make her a whole set of them.
