What other banks (in the Philippines) may I verify a PayPal account aside from UnionBank?

Oyenkai, while kayeshayne was lucky enough to have her paypal validated via BDO, I would like to advise you NOT to use BDO as they do not have the necessary relationship with Paypal for smooth transactions. I tried validating my Paypal via BDO just last month and lost 250+ for my troubles. It was the new BDO ATM Mastercard (debit card) and since Paypal takes a $1.00 fee for every query for verification one sends (was charged Php 45.45 in my account for every query), I lost my money because Paypal kept insisting that there was a problem with my card (and I kept trying to verify it), as the bank wasn't answering their queries for it. I tried going to BDO to ask whether there is something I must to do validate my card and they said it was already validated and can be used readily anywhere. I tried again and again until I've tried five times. Finally, I called 631-0000 for customer support and they told me that BDO does not have any contract with Paypal, and as such, they would like to ask me to hold off using any BDO card for validaion. You CAN still withdraw money from Paypal to BDO by putting BDO's bank code in the Bank section of Paypal, but I was told by the Customer Service that even that is not advisable. Not having a relationship with Paypal means that, while they can receive money from Paypal, in the event that a problem occurs, BDO will not be able to help you in any way. They are having discussions currently, though, so they might allow BDO in the future. If you want to use BDO for Paypal verification, call the customer service first and ask whether they have settled the talks regarding any possible partnership. If it's still unusable, then wait until someone tells a successful story of having their card validated by some other bank or go for EON. You can also try just accumulating your money in Paypal. If you have enough, you can always sell it, though I do admit to not knowing whether paypal dollars can be sold without a verified account. Anyway, good luck on this endeavor! :)

Is this current transaction that you have in BDO? I have read the link provided below and some bank codes already provided for your BDO bank account. I am planning to withdraw the money in paypal for the cash card in the BDO.

WOW! Thank you very much for that information. I will make sure to look into it before suggesting BDO to my friends.

Hi, I think you can verify your paypal account with any bank as long as you have a visa or mastercard. But only Union bank, so far, will allow the transfer of funds from your paypal account to your bank account. So you should just stick to Union bank if you want to get your hands on your myLot earnings. Otherwise, you'll have to buy things online and just pay with PayPal.

Thank you! I already have a Unionbank account. However, there is no Unionbank in Tarlac and wanted to know if a friend of mine can use an alternative bank. If it's not Unionbank, any Credit Card will do? Or does it really have to be Unionbank?

You can verify your paypal account with any credit card that has a mastercard or visa logo. I verified mine with my citibank visa. Once verified you can now transfer the money in your paypal account to your local bank account. You just have to know your bank's bank code. I have transferred some money from my paypal to my bpi account already.

Hi. I Have an online store and a paypal account. Right now i just use paypal for my purchases online. I'm hoping I could use it on my online store as I heard it's now accessible here. I just want to know for example, someone also from the phils. buys from me thru paypal, after i've verified and I want to withdraw the money, I can have it transferred to my BPI a/c, is that right? How much did BPI charged you for that service? Would you also know If i want to send that money to U.S. will i be charged or will the receiver from U.S. be charged if she has it transferred to her U.S. Bank?

I think BDO cash card can also withdraw or transfer money from your paypal.Provided by the Bank codes which is listed in the paypal authorize banks. I am also planning to withdraw it via BDO cash card.

But what about verifying your PayPal through BDO? I also know that I can withdraw from BPI, but not verify the PayPal account through it.

@oyenkai, I have verified my account through my credit card, and added my BPI account on Paypal. What I've been doing the past few months is that I withdraw funds from Paypal to my BPI account. It only takes 5 days for the money to be transferred on my account. Good luck.

I've heard of someone using Smart Money as a means of validing their PayPal account since Smart Money uses Mastercard. However I'm an EON card user and I found absolutely no problems in Unionbank / PayPal relationship. Basically you should understand that the bank shouldn't matter. As long as your card has a Visa or Mastercard logo, it should verify with PayPal. The most important step is to fund at least $2 (or 200 pesos) to your card and then after verification, check your credit card statements for the 4 digit pin to activate your expanded use. Hope for things to be working out for you. John

Sorry I understand that you have no Unionbank around your area. Any credit card should do, but in regards to transferring your funds to a certain bank. You might wanna ask your local bank as to the charges that apply and if there are any issues.

I'm really glad that there is a discussion likk this here in My Lot. I get to learn a lot. I'm also curious about the verifying Paypal with my bank account here in the Philippines. I'm not sure if Smart Money is still able to verify Paypal. Not so sure about that.
