Does anyone know what causes this? And why won't it go away. What can you use and take for this type of skin infection. How can you get rid of it for good?

Often folliculitis develops because you have damaged your hair follicles. Shaving or wearing clothes that rub the skin can irritate the follicles. It can also become blocked or irritated by substances like sweat, oils, or makeup. When the follicles are injured, they are more likely to become infected . Usually a mild case will clear itself up in a couple of weeks but if it is worse you will have to see a doctor and get a prescription to clear it up , usually antibiotic or antifungal pills . In bad cases it will take a lot longer to clear up and taking baths , using hot tubs , whirl pool and swimming pools not properly treated will increase the risk of getting this .

Folliculitis is caused by a "staph" or 'pseudomonas" infections that require antibiotic medications. You need to see a MD to find out what bacteria is present so it can be treated properly. These infections can be serious, with deep skin involvement, and spreading bacteria to the eyes and mouth, even internally. In the meantime use "antibacterial "soap .

According to an internet search Folliculitis is the infection of hair follicles. This can occur anywhere on the skin or scalp. Here are some sites that can help you read about folliculitis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folliculitis http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/folliculitis.html http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/folliculitis/DS00512

You get this type of infection from bacteria( Staphylococcus or Streptococcus) anywhere that has growth of hair. If you have it you need to see a doctor to get a prescription for antibiotics. If the antibiotics works you see a response as early as 48 hours but you need to take the antibiotics for at least a week to eradicate the bacteria. It may recur. Some are very prone to get the infection. To keep out of the infection is to keep our skin clean and avoid scratching the area to prevent a break in the skin or base of the follicle of the hair where the bacteria goes in.

hi cream this is just a fancy word for saything your hair follicles, the shafts of your hair, are infected. You will need to see your doctor or dermatologist and get the proper medications to clear it up. be as careful of your body hygeine as you can be, and do not use public swimming pools, or spas until you are completely healed. Also using talcum powder in area where you perspire a lot will help to keep your skin dry which will help the medication to cure the infection, bacteria thrive in moist dark areas of your body. bathe often and keep your skin dry as possible will help the healing. good luck take care.
