i've watched this video in cnn.com about places that we could visit that hasn't been known yet to a lot of tourist. It is somehow good to know that there are still places that are not yet "over exploited" by us, tourists. Grasscap(?) in South Africa - a couple of hours drive from Johannesburg, now a thriving center for local artist Willurga, Australia - an hour's drive from Adelaide, for food lovers, great farmer's market, great oysters, fish etc from the nearby gulf and great place for wine etc. border of Turkey and Syria - great place for spices and dessert, a traditional crossroad for turkish, kurdish, and syrian cultures Kansas, US - for mountain trail driving, just off I-70, middle of Hartland, a state park with cabins that you could stay the night at about $60 Elves, Czech Republic - known for their gigantic painting, where Alfonse Mucah spent 18 years in creating his masterpiece here

That's a nice list of possible vacation spots. I'm a bit surprised to see Kansas because Americans often consider the Midwest to be boring to travel through (you'll see lots and lots of fields if you drive through the area). Anyway, I like the idea of trying to visit more out of the way places that aren't already deluged with tourists. I also think there's definitely something to be said for learning the language of the country you want to visit so you can literally go anywhere. So often tourists do feel trapped in the typical vacation sites because their lack of language skills or cultural knowledge are so paralyzing. If you develop some language skills and knowledge of the local culture, you'll be as much at home in a small village as a big city.

Learning the language of the country you're visiting is surely helpful. Even learning a few phrases actually is a big help already. I know that these are supposed to be "new" as of that writing but since they put it out there already, I bet it won't take long before tourists fill those areas too.

I really love traveling and am happy to hear about new places to travel to that are not yet really popular. I went to a Mayan site in Guatemala and there were few tourist, then one in Belize and there were even fewer tourists and then I went to one in Mexico and it was really touristy. I had a delightful time looking around from 9am to 10 am then hundreds of tourists arrived. It had been quiet then it became really busy and noisy. I like to get off the beaten tourist track. I am an independent traveler not a package tourist. I have been to South Australia and there I loved going to Kangaroo Island. The town that you say about sounds like it would be a great place to meet the local people and shop in the market.

It is good to know that you enjoy traveling into the parts of the world that has not been "discovered" by a lot of tourist yet. I am more of an independent traveler too. ALthough there are times that I go for package tours as well.
