Candidates - Who will be on your cabinet?

I'm reading "Where Have All The Leaders Gone?" by Lee Iacocca & he makes an interesting case in the chapter I'm reading now. He thinks that the presidential candidates should tell the voters who will be on their cabinet if they should be elected into office. I think this is a stellar idea. What do you think? Would it help you make up your mind? It would be great to know who the candidates' pick would be for Secretary of State, etc. I've already decided who my candidate is but it would be helpful for those undecided voters to know who would be on the future President's team. Of course if you've already decided, this information would most likely seal the deal.

Did you know that McCain has already announced he will have democrats in his cabinet? He hasn't named names but he made it clear that it will not be one "token" democrat. I'm sure he added that part since people are already assuming Lieberman will be in his cabinet. I personally would be very pleased if he chose Ron Paul for a cabinet position. I say that both because Ron Paul has extraordinary integrity and because it would show McCain's commitment to not simply hire yes-men in his administration.

That's key - we don't need any yes-men (or yes-women) in the next administration. Things need to be thought through carefully before any major decisions are made. I like to think that McCain would appoint a bipartisan cabinet but I'm not going to hold my breath.

That's a great idea. If a candidate claims that they will unite the parties than I think it would be important to have both parties in their cabinet.

That's an excellent point. My husband reads a lot about Lincoln & he supposedly appointed individuals that would disagree with him on many matters. By placing members of both parties on the cabinet they can debate the issues & come up with a well thought out solution.

I have first heard of this book on MyLot. Someone else mentioned the book, and it piqued my interest so that I went to the library and was able to get a copy of the book yesterday. So far so good. But this is on the book alone. He does have some interesting things to say.
