Do you think the About Me page is really important?

Do you have an About Me page? What is its content? I am a great reader of blogs but I view their About Me page because I want to know the identity. I believe it is also a good way of showing transparency to your readers, and what you can offer them. It is also a good way of promoting yourself and increasing consistent followers and subscribers.
How about you? Do you think it is really important to have an attractive About Me page?
Thanks!

Hi fatherblogger,
Yes I do! It's just small link right? I have it before my layout is sort of messed up without the extra space lol.
But that's rather nothing much on that about page of mine.
I rather people read my posts and check back should they be interesting.
Then again, I haven't been really blogging for quite a long while.

Ah... I see what you mean now. But I think we don't have this facility for blogspot?

I just checked your blog but did not find any About Me page.
By the way, it is not just a small link as it is a separate post or page where you can give your readers some information about yourself.
Here is mine for your reference - http://fatherblogger.com/about/
Hope that helps somehow.
thanks!

It is important but the danger of being spammed and of identity theft looms in the air. But well, your identity will always come out eventually and that is what happened to me. I will just have to pray that people would be more kind and considerate to me because all I want is to share and learn from others. Congrats for very good discussions. All the best.

I agree with the danger of theft identity that is why I did not really use my full name. I also avoid my family to be included in my exposure especially my children. Just like you, I hope that I will not have problems with that.
I am the one who must thank you for bringing this forum to me.
Regards.

I am lazy sometimes to fill out a about page on my blogs and web sites, anyway I think it is import if you want people that visit your website know about you and why you are making a blog or web site, looking at my statistic on web sites I found out that not much people is checking my about page, so I guess more people just ignored it, and thinking about it, I don't check much the about page on web site that I visit, even I know there is people that doesn't have check the guidelines on mylot, so I am not sure how import in it for page visitors, I mean to set up an about page, of course if you want to have a professional web site, it is import to have a good about page.

I suppose like most things, it would depend on your audience and what you were blogging about.
Some people are just looking for info and don't take the time to dig that deeply into things.
Others are genuinely interested in who the blogger is and how they came about the information in their blogs.
If it is a blog professing expert information in a particular field, then I would think that a quick background of the blogger on their 'about me' page would give them more credibility.
If it is a blog with tips, recipes, craft patterns, etc, it is usually something geared towards women, and women like to get a bit more personal so yes, an 'about me' page would likely work towards that end.

Good insights. Just like reading an interesting book, we check the author's biography so we know who we are admiring and we spread the word.
I also think that having a comprehensive About Me page means he is a more serious in his blogging career.

I think it is a good idea to have an About Me page giving some good information about the person behind the blog.
I have a long About Me page on my new blog. In addition to my biography, and information about my activities, I have added some links and banners, including a referral link to myLot.
I have included links to a few of my articles that are based on personal experiences, in the hope that some of my blog visitors may want to read more of my work.

I checked your About Me page and I do not really think it's that long.
I think mine is quite longer - http://fatherblogger.com/about/
Hope you will get bored when you read it.
Thanks.

i don't think that about me page is really necessary. i don't even go to about page. i think an attractive about me page would be better. having an attractive about me page will let your visitors visit your page more often. they may also be more interested in your life than your page.

I think I have to disagree with your last sentence. An about Me page can be a great way to promote your blog.
