Presidential/Vice-Presidential Job Applications?

When any of us applies for a job, we are required to fill out a detailed job application outlining our education and experience - fraudulent entries or omissions on that application can result in not being employed or if discovered after employment, immediate termination. We must provide references, generally both that can vouch as to our qualification and work history, and that can vouch as to our moral and ethical background. We, however, do not require anything even close of our Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates - but maybe we should! It would require total disclosure before they could run for office, and should anything be discovered/uncovered that they have not disclosed, they would immediately be disqualified as a candidate! What do you think? (let's keep to the topic here and stay away from the various candidates and parties)

The analogy doesn't quite work because employers have many applicants to choose from. If an employer only had a half dozen or so applicants to choose from, they wouldn't be able to disqualify people for such things either.

Isn't it strange that we would hold our Presidential and Vice-Presidential to a lesser standard than we do when we hire an employee!

Strange yes, but we can only "hire" those who "put in their application" and we don't have the option of simply going without if we don't consider any of the applicants qualified.
