I saw a bit of the EVA live on the TV news this morning. Very interesting. It started out with the astronaut still inside the orbital module (he seemed to be having a bit of trouble with the hatch, due to the angle he was at), then a few minutes later they showed him emerging from the hatch and starting the actual EVA. Only a 20 minute EVA, according to what they were saying, but I assume the programme managers were being cautious, as it was said to be a Chinese-made spacesuit - they'll want to make sure there are no problems with it.
The Chinese manned space programme seems to be proceeding along definite steps - first a single man in space, then a multi-man crew, now an EVA. If this mission is judged a success, my guess would be that the next one will involve an orbital rendezvous, either with an unmanned target vehicle or another Shen Zhou, probably involving another EVA so they can gain experience.
I hope the crew makes it back with no problems.
