My boss told everyone today that our business is doing the same thing as the economy, and that everyone in the office has to take a paycut. A lot of us are already on a really tight budget, and I am wondering: how do you cope? How do you re-finance something that's been re-financed several times before? Thanks for the unput.

Gosh, I just saw your discussion here and I sure hope that things have gotten better for you since last year. I know how it is to try to "cut" your budget when there is nothing left to cut out of it. We don't have any extraneous expenses ourselves and my husband has been telling me that we need to cut down on our expenses. I just don't see where that could be possible at this point. I really wish the economy would turn around soon. This recession thing really bites...
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

yeah it sort of makes me wish that I WAS buying things before because I am already on a stretched budget, there isn't anything that I can "cut" out of buying!

I believe they can ask you to take a pay cut but you are not required to do so, the downfall is does that mean you collect unemployment? I am not usre. I know my husbands company is not granting his vacation time and honestly I do not know how legal this is either. He has not had any time off since last July. It all depends on what you are refinancing, If you are thinking of refinancing a home this is definately not the market to do it in, with the falling prices of the homes lots of people are lucky to have equity in thier home. Good luck

Fortunately, I do not own a home right now. I've been trying to refinance my student loans, really, they're a big bear ($300 a month) and I"m trying to figure out a way to carpool, because myjob is far away i spend another $400 on gas each month! So, hopefully things will turn around.

Oh snap, they can do that??? You must be in a small business, I hope (for my sake). How long did they give you?

Yes I am in a very small business. Everybody in the office got the paycut. none of us know how long it's going to last, but I am looking for another job! It's really hard, I might have to move out of my house, into my parents house again (I'm 23, totally not cool) And it's just going to be pretty rough.

I just went through a paycut in April and it is awful. I just moved into a new house in January and it was cutting it close with the payments. I had to take a part time job on the weekends to be sure we could pay all our bills.
I am hoping the economy will straighten itself out soon. You can refinance several times but you keep getting fees added to your mortgage so you might want to try other work at home jobs or get a part time job to help you out.
