My sister in law is about to have TWINS we just found out today. I am in a financial bind at the current moment, with my housing situation, foster baby, 3 year old daughter, sister in law, and her 1 year old daughter all looking for permanent housing. Right now, we are all shacked up in the upstairs of my grandparents home. What I need help with at the current moment is this.....does anyone know of any websites or anything that help with financial needs? We need to find a place to live, which would need to be 4 bedroom or larger, and then we have a lot of material needs such as cribs and newborn/preemie clothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know about websites for financial needs...I know some are out there but don't have any names or links anymore. For baby supplies, you should look into freecycle and pregnancy crisis centers (they might also be able to help with housing). I'm a member of freecycle and there are constantly baby items being offered...clothes, cribs, strollers, formula coupons, high chairs...just yesterday someone offered a cradle.

Would you be willing to pick up some things from freecycle in your area, and I will pay shipping for you to send them to us? I would be willing to pay exact shipping on anything you can help us with. Let me know. We checked freecycle in this area....I have been a member for almost 2 years, and there are hardly ever any baby related items on ours here. So, if you could help us out, it would be great!

I'll definitely keep an eye on the list for shipable items! Do you know if the babies are boys/girls or both?

Have you checked with your local Salvation Army? Around here I know they do help people out once in a while with emergency housing etc...they would also provide cribs etc....you might want to check that out!

For the baby items clothes, etc I would registered for freecycle. People are always giving that stuff away for free. As far as housing, are you looking to buy a home? Have you contacted HUD? They usually have a list of cheap home and places to rent. You may want to look in your newspaper for some for rents and call folks. If you have good credit and rental history sometimes landlords will work with you. I would also call whatever office in your area handles WIC, register with them and ask what resources are available in your area. Even if you can't be on WIC, they can tell you what is available to you (government and private agencies)
