I missed the debate, due to work, and time differences. For those that did watch it, what did you think? Who won and why? Where did they screw up? What are your opinions. I don't mean just a recap. I can look at cnn.com for that, but I am just curious what people took from it.

It ran at 2:00 AM her in the UK but we taped it and watched it this morning. As an Obama supported I will say my man won just like a McCain supporter will say their man won. One thing I couldn't understand was the strong negative vibes shooting from McCain to Obama. It wasn't that this was just a debate, it was something more for McCain. Even thought the moderator kept asking the two debaters to talk to each other McCain REFUSED to look at Obama. Obama gave McCain his due when he agreed with him but all McCain ever said about Obama was "he just doesn't understand." How condescending can you get? Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean you have to belittle them. That is not the sort of action I want to see in a president. The whole debate finally concluded with Obama and his wife walking across the stage to shake hands with the McCain's. It is my feeling that McCain was acting very "unpresidential" and Obama acting very "presidential."

CNN had a little tracker of audience reaction as basically it was the Democrats reacted to Obama more and Republicans to McCain and the Independent voters to everything that involved reform (on both sides). I saw that independents did react positively to McCains talk about Russia. Oh darn, now I forgot all the points, sorry. It did feel like there was nothing new but things still needed to be said but what I found disappointing was that neither candidate risked talking about the financial crisis too long but that could be because everything is up in the air about that in Washington. It left me with a feeling of needing MORE because the elections are so close and the issues have been avoided for so long with all the campaigning distractions. I think OBama scored better but I think both parties came out feeling like they won.

oh thats what it was, the Independents reacted positively to McCain talking over energy independence but when Obama talked about the need for ALTERNATIVE energy the independents in the audience reacted much more positively.
