How long do you wait before buying a new digital camera?

That's so nice that your husband bought you a camera for Christmas. That's a great gift. It is smart to wait until something breaks down before replacing it. It's just I'm afraid it will be another 10 years before my camera breaks down. I'm not sure I want to wait that long before I replace it. Thanks for posting and take care.

Oh, jillhill, I remember you saying how much you liked your Fuji FinePix (was it 600?). Anyway, what kind did you get? I just bought my son's girlfriend a digital camera, and I think it was a Samsung. It had all that face detection and image stabilization stuff and I think the pixels were 8.2 or something like that. Sorry to hear your Fuji crashed. I guess, in a way, if my current camera crashed, then I'd have an excuse to buy a new one.

I got a kodak 8.2 megaixel....called the easy share with instant focusing....that's how I got the eagles nest up so close...it's fun but I like the pictures from the fuji better.....of course my last pictures I did at walgreens and I like the kodak processor more.

Yes, you are right. As soon as a new one is purchased, the cameras for sale the next week have some new feature. It's kind of frustrating. I guess I'd like for technology to wait until my current camera breaks down before they make some new cameras. Thanks for your comments. Take care.

Hi sunnflr. I'm kind of like that, too. Except for the camera I have now may not break down for another 10 years! They just keep making things better and don't give our old stuff time to break down! LOL. Every time I go in to a store and see all those lovely little digital cameras, I am drawn to them. I just bought one as a gift for my son's girlfriend and she was so excited she didn't know what to do!

I am like you in that I have to really think about something if I want it and then, I hesitate so long,I just don't buy it. I've had my digital camera about 5 years and it works fine. But, I've always thought it was a little complicated to get accustomed to. I'm worried that if I wait for mine to bite the dust, I'll NEVER get a new one! Oh, well, it's not like I'm some great photographer or something. Thanks and take care.

Hello Darkestraven. I think it's smart that you really do your research on the various cameras before you decide about which one to buy. But, wow, there are so many out there these days. I tried to compare several at a couple of websites, but it can take hours. I have had my current one for about 5 years and would love to get one the smaller, more compact cameras with all the new technology that's out there. But since my current one still works, it seems like a waste to replace it. Thanks for commenting.

Love the green lips. Ooh, bet you two were upset when your sister dropped the digital camera. That would be bad. Hope you got a camera that you enjoy. I don't think anybody can really have the latest or newest one, because, after about a week, the manufacturers put out something new!
