You live in Florida right? Well you are in one of the 10 states currently dried up for unemployment benefits. Here check this out!

My mother lives in Fort Lauderdale. They won't take her claim. My sister in Missouri. She just lost her job as well and ditto! Good luck.

Strictly speaking, the best way is to hand in your notice to your employers. If they accept it, you will be unemployed.
If you have been fired or made redundant (but not if you left your job voluntarily) you may be eligible to apply for unemployment benefit. You do this by going to your Social Security office or the equivalent to 'sign on'. The best way to find your local office is to ask at your local library or Post Office or to look in the phone book. You can also search online.
There are various benefits which you may be eligible for. The most usual is called 'Jobseekers Allowance' (in the UK). This is an allowance that the government will pay you to tide you over while you find a job and is dependent on you providing evidence of your job search.

Go to the local public assistance office, where you apply for food stamps, and ask them. They should be able to help you. Good luck!
