What do you use to clean your DVD's when they won't play?

I use childrens Crest toothpast to clean my grandaughter's DVD's with. They get where they won't play, they will skip or freeze up. So, I put some of the toothpast on it and rub it in and then wipe it off with a soft cloth. It works. The scratches are still there but at least it plays and she is able to watch it. I was using alcohol but it was not doing the trick of some of them. Any other ideas? What do you use?

I usually just used a soft cloth and wipe them, but it doesn't always work so most often than not I end up all frustrated. LOL. I don't have any original ideas to share but I will definitely use yours, Thanks!! ^_________^
