I may be shy at first hour of first meeting but then that will be the start I keep talking. I am not the type of person pretend to be so naive of things which I am not and be demure. I tried to communicate and be friends to people I just met. And that's really my attitude ever since. So where ever I go, I am sure I have someone I can be friends and talk with.

Hi vimaal, Firstly, shy people ar normal people as well, they have not got much confidence to just go and talk to people and thre are reasons why they are shy, you are very lucky that you are not shy and have all the confidence to have lots of friends and is very jolly but spare a thought for those that are shy because I was one very shy person. I am a mixture of both. It also depends on the kind of mood that I am in, that determines my attitude as well..

Your topic title made me giggle. Does it mean that someone who is shy is not normal? Then you talk about shy vs. jolly. I've known plenty of shy people who are also jolly. I used to be a very shy person. Then I took a college class about getting along with people, and one of the first exercises was about getting to know yourself. Part of that showed how you think people think of you and how people actually think of you. Before then, I never realized that many people think that folks who are shy are standoffish or think they have a superior air about them. I never knew that. From that moment on, I strived to be more outgoing. And I've done quite well in that regard, I think. I'm no longer afraid to be the one to start up conversations. I now can speak in front of groups large and small. And I've learned to laugh at my own mistakes.

I am very shy. I have been trying to come out of my shell this year and it has been working a lot. I think the key is to kind of find out what you are afraid of and face it head on. It helped me to buy this awesome shirt for this guy I like but I'm too afraid to talk to, and since I bought it I had to force myself to go up and give it to him and say something! It felt so good in the end.
