What are three issues that you personally want addressed during the Presidential debates? Forget the media hoopla of issues on global impact, economy etc. and think about the issues that really matter to you.

Also, till now has either of the nominees addressed these issues?

Cheers!
Ram

Three concerns I would like the candidates need to take on. 1) the immigration challenge: a wall must be built on the border of Mexico. No if's, and's or but's about it. 2) the environment: if we don't do something about the planet there won't be anything left in the future. 3) Kill the bailout: Wall Street got themselves into this mess, they will have to get themselves out.

Did my candidate address these issues? I think the world would be better off if I were president!

One and two are fine, but your third concern seems to be squashed already. The congress has passed the new bailout proposal. I do tend to agree with you that if Wall Street got themselves into this mess, they need to find their own way out of it as well.

Cheers!

My three concerns would be:

1) Economy: as top priority, what economic plan do you have to restore the US economy back to health? (So for instance, what will be your budgetary plans in view of the costs incurred in bailing out the banks, how will you balance the books in a very tight financial situation? What are your proposals to make the US economy more competitive, particularly in view of increased competition from China and India?)

2) Foreign policy: basically, how do you propose to restore the US's position in the world, particularly in view again of the challenge to US power from countries like China in particular? (Encompassed in this question will be how will you deal with Iraq and Afghanistan and continue the hunt against Bin Laden? How will you deal with Israel/Palestine? What of Guantanamo Bay? How will you deal with the strategic challenge posed by China? How will you restore perceptions of the US in the world so that once more we are seen as a beacon of liberty by peoples of other nations?)

3) The environment: many people now believe that the potential threat of global warming is too serious to be ignored. How will you deal with this as a matter of urgency to effect real reduction in our carbon emissions and obtain agreement worldwide to reduce emissions globally? (so in this question, a number of issues would be what proposals do you have, how will these work and how will you ensure they do not harm the US economy, how will you persuade other nations like China and India in particular to co-operate?, what will the cost of these measures and the timeline that you seek to achieve, etc)

I think the top two are anyhow in the focus area of both the candidates, but environment seems to be surprisingly low on both their agenda.

Cheers!

ram cv, I read your post more closely this time, perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the economy and foreign policy, but then again, those two issues are really important to me. The economy because it affects my life and my standard of living and foreign policy because I care about these issues, and am upset that America's standing in the world has gone down and I think the new President needs to ensure that we are once again seen as the shining beacon of democracy that inspires the world.

Yes, I do agree with you that economy and standing in the world do have a impact on the lifestyle of people. Unfortunately, at the current moment, both are in doldrums and it would be interesting to see what measures are put in place to resolve these.

Cheers!
