What do you gain by vandalism?

At my place of work, one of the toilets have been vandalised by the pupils themselves. It’s difficult to trace who was the culprit when there are several pupils in your school. To curb down such abuses, the school administration has ordered to keep only one toilet open per block. These measures do hit badly other students who use the toilet facilities with caution. I really do wonder what certain pupils do gain by vandalism.

I certainly don't know what they gain out of it too..I really don't see their point in doing it..Here in our country I see people vandalise on walls of almost anywhere from toilet walls and doors, bus seats, walls of houses and buildings, vehicles, trees...geez I don't know why they do such things. That is why the paper was invented to write on. Some people just don't have anything to do with their life that they just want to mess things up around us I guess. Hope they do stop though because it would be much nicer to look around on nice painted walls and doors and clean surroundings with no vandalism anywhere.

Unfortunately the thing that they gain is a sense of power, even if that power is power to annoy. They feel like they are in control because osmething they do hurts others, while they are technically not being violent, in the traditional terms. People get a charge out of seeing the results of their vandalism.

Young people do vandalism because they think it is cool to see there signature all over the place. I know it is pathetic to feel famous and known by other kids because you vandalized other peoples property. I got pissed off with this kid too they usually went to private properties wall late at night. So its pretty hard for you to caught them. But you can actually catch them if one of those kids who are known for vadalizing will be investigate. They usually know each other through there signature.

Most people tend to vandalize because it makes them feel cool and get attention so that is what they gain attention. If they vandalize alone then what they want is the satisfaction of tearing something up.

I think they want to get attention or just want to throw their anger to the public facilities. It also happens at my school. Vandalism is hard to prevent. Some of them enjoy doing that. Vandalism is action done by sick mind people. They don't care others will suffer because of their action. I think they need to be counseled about the damage they do.

I am sorry to hear that at your work place one of the toilets was vandalized by one of the pupils, and I can bet it would be very difficult to trace the culprit when there are a lot of pupils in the school, and that sounds like a good measure to try and stop the abuse, and I am not sure what students gain by vandalizing things because I really think it is stupid and shows a lack of respect, and I used to have a friend who got caught vandalizing a school dumpster and he got in a whole lot of trouble and get sent away somewhere.

I think those who do vandalism are sick in the mind. They take pleasure at the expense of the surroundings! Imagine writing on the wall? It would be to my pleasure if stiff punishment given to these students! I hope your school will catch them at any one time.

Hi ronaldinu,
They are seeking attention and by doing that they think they are going to be popular by the pupils believe me those pupils know who have done it and they don't grass up on anyone.

Everyone of us is under the control of two natural forces, positive and negative energies. vandalism is an expression of negatively charged energy. The young boys/girls who aren't properly tutored to curb the negative energies, involve in vandalism.

There could be several reasons why they would do this; attention-seeking, revenge. Well, we were all a child once and i am sure you've done something stupid or meaningless in your life not to offend you or anything, i mean, i for one have and i do regret it.

I find it very hard to understand vandalism, Ronald. These young people use the excuse that 'they're bored' - they expect to be entertained all day and all night, or they'll do something stupid. Some students at my husband's school set fire to some papers under the Science block on the last day of school, just for the fun of it. The firemen had to crawl underneath a building to put the fire out, and anything could have happened. I don't understand at all.
