Will a coffee cup compost ?

Will a paper, (I'm guessing lined with wax) coffee cup compost? should i place it in a recycling bin or trash instead ?
In case it matter, this cup would enter the waste management system .

I think that if it were shredded it might break down but, on the whole, it probably belongs in the trash.
There is a lot of stuff that we seem to get no guidance on for recycling. Plastics are fairly well documented ... there should be a number on them somewhere in a recycling symbol which tells what kind of plastic they are.
